View Full Version : You Walk into a Theatre, Which Way Do You Turn?
Alias
Apr 10th, 2009, 01:22 AM
You just bought a ticket to a newly released movie. You enter the theatre and are blocked by a wall. You have two choices, Go: (1) Left or (2) Right, down the hall. Let's assume going right is a shorter distance to the first aisle.
Which way do you go?
-----
I usually go left (the longer way) because I assume that most people will take the shorter path to the seats.

I do a quick scan and then head for my preferred spot (center, near back). There's too many variables to give an answer. For instance, when I'm lining up for a movie, there's likely a small flood of people entering the theater as I am. So there's no time for cutting across and then up. It's like a fighter pilot reacting to an incoming missile, you have about a second to decide and then act.

Isn't it obvious? To get the best seat you must turn the right way ;)

If I've arrived early to the movie, there are a lot of empty seats, and I don't have a rush of people behind me, left. 'Cause then, by virtue of the longer path to walk, I can scope out better seats.
If I'm late, things are filling up quick, and I would be damned to give up the chance for a seat for a movie I paid for, right. 'Cause I don't care what damn seat I sit in, just a good seat that won't make me regret my ticket purchase.
But I usually arrive a little early, so mostly left.

Don't all theaters have entrances on both sides? There's only one way to go.

+1.. I don't get this thread at all. All the theaters I've been to have a entrance to the left side, and an entrance to the right side.

Generally, given a choice of left or right people instinctively turn right. It is a scientific fact that has been observed for hundreds of years.

many newer Cineplex screens only have ONE entrance, and you walk by the front row to get to the far set of stairs ... I usually sit right above the entrance, where there are two seats because most times, I get a spare seat with out being an ass (cuz most ppl come in pairs/groups )

a theatre isnt 720p, it costs more, and you don't get to keep your own copy

I usually turn to the direction towards the washroom first. I don't want to get up in the middle of the movie just to take a leak and miss a good scene.

I guess it depends on where the seats are located.
Very simple.
