I'm interested in the 46" (Samsung 750 series), anyone successful with a good deal on that. Reg price $2,299. FS offered it to me at $1,999 (stating giving me the boxing day price). Any better offer for it.

I think you can do a little better than that. I was able to get this for $2179 in early December without having to purchase the extended warranty. However, we did purchase two units.

great TV, but good luck getting a better price than $2200 after the Canadian dollar bottomed out again and the LCD price fixing was uncovered.

I got this for $1799 + tax the week before Xmas. I did not negotiate. I just told the sales person that I would buy if they could give me that price.

I managed to haggle the LN52a650 for 2180$ from Visions + airmiles.
I just said I would buy it for that price otherwise I would leave.

Its virtually the same TV with a nicer bezel but less features (the a750 you can play movies from a usb where as the a650 can only do pictures & music) and I bit different shell

I can also scan my reciept.

Would you like to share where to get that price in Calgary (might need the name of the sales rep as well)? Is that price for 52"? Might be interested to get one.

I just went to futureshop about 1 hr ago.

The wall price is 2699.99....I haggled a bit....the sales rep said he can only knock off 150 at most.

Apparently since it's in the flyer he can't touch the price much.

Is this true?
I even tried to get the 3yr warranty, he managed to take off an additional 100....but the warranty is another additional 350ish, which comes back to the same.....

how are you even getting 2299 for this tv?

apparently there is not too many left, since they are getting ready for b750.
Tomorrow they will have it for $2700 (-$150) and call ON SALE...
the best thing about tv... put your movie/pic/music on usb stick and plug it in to tv... no more burning dvds :D

same here, just went to FS about 3 hrs ago... asked about the ln46A550...the csr gave a huge song and dance and finally gave me the "employee price" of $1,379. Told him the B series should be coming soon and the A series will be discontinued...he had no clue what I was talking about...:(

told him the A530 counterpart is going for no more than $1300 in the rest of the GTA and he wouldn't budge..... where else should i look?

If I could find the LN52A650 or LN52A750 for anywhere around $2300 I would probably move on it. But I don't live close to a BB or FS to barter with a sales rep ;)

What I would REALLY like to pay is $2000 ish for the LN52A650 though. I would be happy with that.

Don't know when that will ever happen though.. :o

750 is FS exclusive, so you can only buy it from FS. Or are you saying FS can PM 650 price with their 750? That's good to know if this is true.

I got it for 2199 , negotiated when it was already with the -$100 off about a month ago. So retail was 2599 at FS. If you go on a weeknight, like just before they close, you should get a good deal. I went tuesday at 8:50 , store was pretty empty. I just said, BB and I think Dumoulin or something, were going to get me the 650 at 2150 and I don't see the need to pay that much more for the 750. So if you want me to buy this right now, I'll take it for 2199, go ask your manager if we have a deal. He came back, asked me how I was paying. I found that a bit weird, I said CC, then came back and he said ok. Maybe they were looking if I was going to use gift cards? Because I know people sell those for discounts.

I am pretty sure they have to ask the manager, that's what happened with me. BB or FS can change the price off what's listed. I went to BB and the guy there was being a prick about the 650, he wouldn't give it to me for $2200. I also went to one FS, and the guy wouldn't give me the 750 for 2299. It ended up working out in my favor since I ended up getting it another FS for 2199. So it depends on who your salesguy is and if he wants to make the sale and get it approved by the manager. So, don't give up if you don't get it at 1 location. Try, try and try again :)

Yeah I saw the LN52A650 at BB for $2399..

I was expecting the SAVE THE GST thing to apply as well though.. and it doesn't seem to.. that's $125 I would be saving..

As it stands now.. $2399 .. plus shipping, and taxes.. it's still running me over $2800 ..

Prices seem higher than boxing week even though these TVs should be clearing out to make way for new models. It must be the exchange rate plus stocks are already run low.

At this point in time I think I would hang out for a thin LED backlit TV which will probably be half the price next boxing day.

I paid $1949 during boxing week for a LN52A630 @ FS with a $99 dollar HD box but I think this TV has sold out everywhere now (has a 750 bezel but with semi-matte screen).

Just a few points based on my experience with Samsung LCDs.

1. Check out baclighting issues when the TV is displaying a black screen (e.g. during film credits). There can be light patches in the corners. I had to return my first 630 for this reason.

2. Irregularities in the moulding of the plastic bezels. 5 series seems worst effected. 750 type bezels seem the best to me. 650 bezels also have some of these dimple problems.

3. With 6 series and higher it should be safe to assume you will get a Samsung made panel.

I think I have that backlighting problem with my 650 all thougH I only notice it when im close and at an angle. I thought that was just a limitiation with the viewing angle and not a problem with the TV itself.

Its been a few months since I bought my TV though.

KEY Factors for getting threw deals or Low GM sales at FS.
At FS you can haggle with them on the price, its a commissioned sales rep your are dealing with, as long as the GM of the package is about 13%+ you will be able to squeak threw "dirty deals". ON the bottom left corner of the sales screen there is a gross margin calculator, usually starts with 000ax17z556 etc.(for this example the 17 represents the gm of this sale). If on that day they have a high Gross Margin like 18% they can allow to take a lower hit and maintain a decent GM for the day. (around 15% is borderline). Also, the other key factor is the daily gross sales numbers. If the the daily sales target is $2500 short at that moment when the sale could be completed, they will put threw a sale that is 2500 even with lower GM. When they hit there sales targets it looks better in the Business Analisis Report submitted and sent to the regional managers blackberry at the end of each night by the closing mgr team.
Most likey it will go threw, as long as
- its near the end of sales for the day so the final numbers are pretty much known at this point. (so this sale is more important now than at 10am)
- its a sales rep with a good rapport with his DSM so they can push threw the deal if they are close to hitting targets and this will help attain that.
(if they are short and the sale goes threw it will allow them to hit targets, this is a bonus paid quarterly to mgrs and regionals).
- its NOT a newbie DSM manager and or Ops managers at the helm.
- they are close to hitting there sales target but have a higher GM for the day (18%) to absorb the hit this sale will go create.
- if you add items like ext warranty and monster cables it allows the heavily discounted items to be hidden by the avg GM of the sale. PSP and cables are like 40%gm. So with an item like a tv thats blowing out at 10-12% points, it will shoot that sale up too 14-16 points.
Then as long as the rep doesnt write on the bill, *package price*
You can return it another day the cables and perhaps the warranty, although I would leave that in, with a heavy discounted item the warranty drops as well. They are based on price point. So the warranty would be at the best possible point when the item drops 250-350.00 But cables are cables, no need to spend $150 when $15.00 dollars ones are fine. Just buy them at the moment to get the price discounted and warranty discounted and then return the cables like 2 weeks later still in there original package.
- Do it when the sales rep isnt on duty so you dont have to return the whole sale. Or a busy CSR who doenst have time to call a HT rep down to the front to question why you are returning these item(s).
Conclusion:
If the numbers work and the sales team is one that will discount to hit there targets almost any logical deal will go threw. But if on that day they had a lot of returns and there GM is all ready too low they will not allow this deal to go threw. Thats why its good to know a couple sale reps that will call you when the opportunity is right to push threw a low gm sale with a given store and manager on duty. (usually saturday after 8pm is a good time to attempt this maneuver).

How does this tv compare to the Sony xbr6.

I've never seen/heard about xbr6 52'' for less than $2500.
afaik xbr doesn't have movie player, only pics and mp3s. On a750 I plug in my memory stick and it can play xvids... no more dvd burning.
re: pq quality
fs had z series (which is the same as xbr) and a750, and have to admit that samsung looked better... just my 2c.

stoneydish, any tips for non-commission based BB?
So you are saying the best time to buy a large ticket item haggled down at FS is at the end of a busy Saturday?

I'm also interested in the LN46A650, lowest I think at BB was $1699 at boxing day, and $1799 two weeks ago. Eoutlet is $1499 but refurb. I don't imagine any big clearouts as they are selling themselves.

I just bought a BNIB Sammy 52A750 for $2099 with purchase of the 4YR PSP ($569.99) from FS. Also got the 3-pack of Blu-Rays that they were giving out with Blu-Ray players and a screen cleaning kit thrown in.

I read in another thread that FS's cost on this TV is $2000.

I'm debating whether or not to keep the warranty as I've heard they will try their best not to honour it. The salesman stated (in pen) on the receipt that the TV and PSP were sold as a bundle. I'd imagine I could get another receipt printed instore and return just the PSP if I so desired. I'm not sure how this would sit with my conscience though as I can't imagine the salesman would be terribly happy with losing his commission.

[Edit] I saw the 52A650 at London Drugs for $2199.99 a few days ago. Visions offered me this TV for $2299.99 before I bought the 750.

well, BB has the same management bonus system and SOP as FS.
The only thing is that the FS senior sales staff would be motivated to present
the deal to a manager. Not saying it cant be done at BB. But I fear they are less likely to blow out a product unless its a straight competitor PM thats running at cost or close to it. The Saturday thing was just an example it can be any night, conversely if they make target on a Saturday or any day
- they will be less likely to opt for a low margin sale. Thats why you kinda need a good contact who will know when is the best time to buy something you had your eye on. Ideally, those friends and fam nights on Sunday`s are great days to haggle down to your price for the big ticket item(s). IF you don`t wanna wait try this...
Just go in and say: I was at another FS-BB and I got this package deal can you match it and ill do the deal right now! Since this store is closer to me, or guy isnt in today etc, whatever excuse you wanna use... and try to get one of those blank PsP warranty covers before hand from the CSR and write the item down, with the skus or web codes (usually start with 100xxxxx)
10099659 - TV sku. Then show them the psp card with the Tv sku and prices and see if they will take the deal. Wost thing that can happen is you get a NO.
LN46A650-$1699. with 4 year psp warranty
LN46A650-$1750. with 3 year psp warranty* prolly your best bet its right in the middle of the best price with a decent warranty point.
+ add a couple other monster products, powerbar, screen cleaner, cables..
etc, those can be returned at a later date*
With the warrantys and some monster products, that will bring up the Margin of the package price, with a smart sales person that realises its a done deal, and basically your playing on there greed to steal away somebodys worked on completed deal. Might need to try this at few stores or sales persons in order to get it to go threw. But eventually it should work.
Hope that helps yea.. ^peace

It seems they now keep the TV price at reg. price, but put a heavy discount on the service plan and accessories. This way customer will be discouraged to return service plan, monster cable etc the next day.

I think I have that backlighting problem with my 650 all thougH I only notice it when im close and at an angle. I thought that was just a limitiation with the viewing angle and not a problem with the TV itself.

Its been a few months since I bought my TV though.

I think all these TVs have a slight effect. On the TV I had first it was very noticable and impacted on the viewing significantly. I think if yours had it this bad you would have had noticed a problem watching it sooner. My current TV has a very slight effect which Is not really noticable unless you are looking for it. First TV was 10x worse.

stoneydish, any tips for non-commission based BB?
So you are saying the best time to buy a large ticket item haggled down at FS is at the end of a busy Saturday?

I'm also interested in the LN46A650, lowest I think at BB was $1699 at boxing day, and $1799 two weeks ago. Eoutlet is $1499 but refurb. I don't imagine any big clearouts as they are selling themselves.

Avoid BB, imo FS, because of their commissioned environment, will always net you the best deal, these guys get payed on what they sell, where as in bb, they get payed regardless so there is always a tendency amongst employees to stay on the side of caution, they will ask managers for discounts, while at FS you would probably receive the same if not better discount with much less effort from both customer and associate.

Yeah everything else is correct go right before the store closes, especially when its dead, weeknights like thursdays and saturday evenings are good times to be specific.

Could anyone who bought this TV for cheap please PM me their reciept?
What are the chances of FS even taking photocopies anyways? I've never done that before and my store seems a bit particular on certain things.

The wall price stills shows 2699 which I would not pay. I was talking to some salesmen down there and they were saying how they expect their prices to go up 20% sometime soon. I can't see that happening really...
I'd love to get this tv for 2100-2200.
I know the B-series is coming, but right now is a good time to buy for me. And I don't think the Luxia set is worth an extra 2000 dollars.

Tax included?

Before tax. I basically walked in and asked him what he can do for me if I buy this TV today. He then asked me how I'm paying, do I need anything else (i.e. cables, stand, etc) and if I was buying the service plan. I told him I just wanted the TV. Then he asked how much. I told him $2100 and after 5-10 minutes with his manager he asked for $2199 (which is what I expected to pay anyways).

I'm not the haggling type and I won't make a scene if I don't get my way, and quite frankly I had no problems getting this TV for this price. As other have mentioned before, you have to be willing to walk out the store if you don't get the price you want.

I bought a 52A750 back on Jan 9 for $2117 + taxes. Listed price was $2599 at the time. No ext warranty or cabling was bought. Although I did buy a Sanus wall mount with it for $169, negotiated down from $209.

Unfortunately the TV was stolen this past Monday so I'm back in the market. Good to see that $21xx still seems possible. Anyone know how much longer this TV will be in stores. Seems the B750 was just added to FS's site but its pricey at $3499.

I am probably going to search for a deal on this set as well, just because it can play video from usb.

Damn shame about the TV getting ripped off. But what goes around, comes around. The thief will get his.

I've got my eye on the LN52A750 too. I'll probably grab it when it drops to around $2200, which is probably my benchmark. I did see the LN46A850 at FS for $2500 a couple of weeks ago, saving $400 off the list price of $2900. Almost pulled the trigger, but passed. I think the TV will be listed for a while longer. People seem to be holding off on buying big ticket items for the moment due to the recession, which is probably what kept me from buying this set a long time ago.

If anyone would like a scan of my receipt, i was able to get the ln52a750 for $1998.99 back on January second. I did however buy warranty with it.

At the time i was buying the tv there was a lot of demand so i had to wait 3 weeks. The salesperson then gave me another $100 off.

PM me if want a receipt.

I picked up the LN52A850 at Gibby's a few weeks ago for $2499

http://www.gibbysaudiovideo.com/samsung-ln52a850-120hz-1080p-hdtv-slim-line-ln52a850-p-3700.html

Listed price shows $3699, but since it's last years' model you could try giving them a call and see how close to $2200 they can get... it's got all the features of the A750 but is much thinner (but not lighter, I wager. It is very heavy)

Cheers

edit: Gibby's claims to have ONE NEW UNIT left. Perhaps they're "desperate" to get rid of it? It doesn't show as on sale, but maybe give it a try anyway! Make 'em an offer!

I would really appreciate a reciept for the 52a750 if anyone has one that they could PM me.
I'm trying to buy either from NL's only FS and they wont move 1 penny for me. I know that it's possible to them to lower the price of the A750 down from 2699.99, but they stand their ground pretty well. I've been after they tv for quite some time now, but I really do not want to pay sticker price. Especially when I could have bought it Boxing Day for 2399.99
Also the B series is just out, if anyone has a decent reciept for that too could you PM me.

They'll always give you a better deal if you take the warranty. It also depends when you walk into the store. If you walk in at 8:50pm and tell them you saw the Samsung 650 at Best Buy for like $1999(just an example), and that particular store is under budget for the day, don't be surprised if they agree to match that price on the 52A750. Timing can really come into play.

Anyone have a recent reciept for the LN52a750 TV, or the B series?
I tried FS with a photocopy of one someone gave me but they denied me. I tried again and they said it was fine but too old (it was from Jan) They said they would accept it if it was from the past 14 days.
I'm really hoping to get the A750 for lower than sticker price haha

Just got a ln52b750 for 3k even with 4 year psp.

I told them I wanted the tv for 2900. In the end they offered me the tv for 2900 or both for 3000, so I took the psp (reg 669.00) for 100 bux.

Took about 45mins of haggling.

That's a nice deal, considering the ticket price for the 40B750 is like $2499.99. The have a lot of margin on those tv's, so you can definitely deal for the warranty and other stuff.

So this tv is gone from Best Buys website for awhile now, and it dropped from Futureshops earlier this week.
Also it shows up as 2599.95 in their system at a store I checked so it is almost ready to go to clearence. Too bad my store only has 1 in stock and it's a demo.
Looks like I won't be able to get this TV after all. Better start trying to find a deal on the B series.

Not necessarily. I say call around at different stores and see what their stock situation is (I'm sure many of them still have stock). I'm pretty sure they want to get rid of these now, so a deal can definitely be had. Also, if not this one, consider the LN52A650, bestbuy still has it online and lots of of stores have stock. Its essentially the same tv. This is the set I'm looking to buy, just waiting for it to go to clearance.

Hey all, the LN52A650 is now at clearance at Bestbuy.com for $1699.99 (US site). I can only assume it won't be too long before it goes clearance here as well. I'm going to try my luck and see if I can get a Bestbuy rep here to give a me a CDN clearance price (~$2000 CDN) or even less.

Anyone having any luck with pricing on new LED models

I haven't tried to be honest. Those models are definitely out of my price range and they are new tech as well. I like to wait a few years for a company to work out the kinks before buying into a technology.
