You can buy the Meguiar's Clay Bay Kit at Canadian Tire or Walmart. It's about $25 and comes with 2 bars (enough for 2-3 cars), a bottle of quick detailer (use it as lube for the clay) and a sample of their cleaner wax.

Zaino isnt big league LOL. True detailer never use Zaino because lack of shine and clarity. Every high end sport cars and show car use pure natural carnauba wax (and its not cheap). Zaino make your car look like plastic.

Zaino offers protection and long lasting like any other synthetic products.

If you use Zaino, you only need twice a year. So in return, its actually economical solution and an attempt to true detailing.

Whats the best way to detail a car which has 3M clear bra on. I dont want to start waxing the car and have bad white wax lines where the clear bra ends (it's a black coloured vehicle, so it will stick out)

Just for kicks I got the Riccardo clay at eShine (http://www.eshine.ca/riccardo_clay_original_yellow_8oz-4001.php). It's one of those things you can get in Canada but not the US due to patent rights.

No, it's not "big league", but it's not little league either. It doesn't leave your car "look like plastic" if you do it right. The key with Zaino is Dawn, clay, Z-5, Z-5, Z-2, Z-2, Z-2. You'll get a deep, very long lasting reflective finish rivaling ANY professional job. Yes, I said it.

Now wait before flaming. What Zaino or the above method I use does NOT do is fully recover swirls. If your paint is shot to heck and this is your FIRST attempt to do something about it, take it to a pro so they can truly cut and polish. After that, Zaino is like an apple a day... you'll almost never need a pro again... unless you fancy visiting automatic washes with "soft" cloth a lot.

It's like cameras... the Zaino is a Prosumer... like the Nikon D200 I have. A pro would shoot something like a D3x (if Nikon inclined). Even STILL, any product is only as good as it's user.

So, taking a long turn... if you want to start, get yourself some Mother's clay. They have a box that comes with quick detailer. That will do just fine. Cut the detailer 50/50 with distilled (or plain) water. Go to town on the car and take your time. There are plenty of GOOD YouTube videos on how to properly clay. Just keep it lubed.

Now if your paint is good with minor swirls, and you can live with minor swirls afterwards, do Zaino. GREAT results when done right and lasts long. Why? You spent at least an hour doing clay, you might as well get the value out of your labour. Yes, there are "better" products, but Zaino is the easiest to use (sparingly!), and the absolute best bang for the buck.

Do NOT, I repeat, do NOT go to town on your finish using some NuFinish (ugh), EagleOne or other "much lesser" type of polish/wax with a random orbital. Everything in that last sentence is a no-no to anyone that likes their car.

What's wrong with NuFinish?
I bought a jar about a month ago and used it on my car and bike. I'm not a detailer by any means but I get shiny and smooth results... which is basically why I use wax.

Hehe. No matter what you say, there will always be those that swear by certain things. I was a NuFinish guy for the longest time (5 years?). Why? Because my father used it. After trying Zaino (for free, mind you), I can clearly see that NuFinish doesn't give you the "mile deep" shine nor the durability of a better/different product.

NuFinish smells TERRIBLE, by the way. It gives your car a very distinct, "plastic" look.

Just read the thread and it seems like NuFinish was the right choice for me. I have a 96 Mazda Protege with rust. All I'm looking for is clean and long lasting protection, and NuFinish fits the bill perfectly. Colour clarity and depth is definitely not what I'm going for in a busted up beater, LOL.
