Going after city for pothole/speedbump damage

I'm about 99% sure I won't be able to get anything back, so I'm not getting my hopes up, but just in case I thought I would post here.

This weekend I was driving through Kingston and they had the "hump" speed bumps on the street, but one was exceptionally steeper then the rest, and I smashed my header/rad support into it (I was driving at a reasonable speed over the speedbumps at this point because I had already safely passed over a couple before hand, the first very slowly) I tried crawling slowly over the exact same speedbump later in the day to see if I would still hit, and it did, so I just backed up and took it an a huge angle to get over that time.

I'm sure I've heard of people going after damage for potholes before, but never speedbumps?
Do I have any recourse, or is it just something I have to suck up for driving a lowered car and be more careful next time? :lol: (I'm not slammed, I think I have 1.5" lowering springs)

It isn't city halls fault you lowered your car. Don't expect a penny from them.

Good luck but don't hold your breath. The city will just sit there shaking it's head saying "No no no no no..."...unless of course it's one of their own vehicles.

Having already gone through this after trying to deal with the city over excessive stone debris on the 401, I can tell you that all they will do is send one of their own adjusters out to assess the situation. When they use their own adjusters to determine their liability, what do you think they are going to say? I will give you a hint: "Not our fault, not our fault, not our fault, not our fault......"

You have a far greater chance of winning the Super 7 jackpot than ever getting one cent out of the city.
