i've built a few of them already and i can supply the parts.
which part of the build were you needing advice with?
i will be honest with you this is a project that will take some time.
what i did was i put aside 4 hours each sunday evening after church with my daughter and we did it together. it took us 5 sundays to complete.

a console will not substitute the actual arcade cab feeling.

yeah that's a pretty awesome idea.. I have a rec room and a mame machine would be amazing to have especially when people come over..
with all the arcades shutting down now is probably a great time to find a cab.

i am basically looking to find out what all the steps are in the process, time is no problem, im hoping to build a four player setup if thats too costly and difficult then i will just do a two player

start with hardware first. the physical setup believe it or not is the easy part.
get roms and emu test a good frontend. once you have done this you can make your bootup dos scripts.when this is done then proceed to cab assembly.
always plan first.

Pick yourself up an old xbox and mod it, then just use a simple tube tv (nice old grainy lines) and just composite cables (yes, you want the quality nice and low like old school :)). Head over to arcadecontrols.com and find some ideas. Tools will cost you quite a bit though, as well as control parts, etc. -sg
