Hey I'm looking for some cheap dress shoes that are COMFORTABLE. I bought a pair from Moores for $140 and it was great quality, stylish and comfy and then i followed up with a $60 Aldo pair that was just stylish but uncomfortable as hell and gave me holes in my socks. I realized after my 8th pair that the shoes were giving them holes when this whole time i thought it was just from wear and tear or from the laundry.

So Need some new dress shoes and some new black socks?!!?! Any suggestions? Even walmart is pretty expensive for black socks .. around $4 / pair on avg.

Eh? $4 for a pair of black socks are not "pretty expensive".

For shoes, its all fit. So just try them on. Keeping in mind shoe size/style and manufacturer may accommodate different shoe sizes and may not be true to size.

If you don't mind... the black dress socks @ Joe's (Loblaw Supercentres) are cheaper than Walmart + feel comfy.

As far as shoes go... Cheap & Comfy don't usually go together.
You go cheap (Aldo, Spring), your feet will hate you, but your wallet loves you.
You go $$$, Geox, Ecco, etc. your feet love you, but your wallet hates you.

Think of them as an investment + protect them.
I know lots of ppl who have nice dress shoes, where they keep them @ work, and switch to regular shoes on the way home for subway/rain/snow.
This ensures your nice shoes hardly get damaged.

Try to find the middle ground, like Rockport. Cheaper than Ecco, but more than Aldo (in price and comfort).

I don't like dress socks - they're too thin for my liking...I just wear black sports socks.

If you buy $4 socks from Walmart they will fall apart :)

Try Winners for Dress socks. You can also try dress socks that are a wool blend. They will be more expensive but they last a lot longer. Contrary to popular belief, they don't make your feet hot.

BUT I FOUND 10 pairs of black dress socks (Protocol, size 7 - 12) at the Sears + NO GST for $10.49. Total comes to $11.33.

Bought at the DOWNTOWN eaton centre sears.

I'm still looking for nice dress shoes. I guess, i'd rather pay the extra then get aldo rock hard shoes. I was thinking of coming into work with different shoes but i'd look foolish on the subway and also i might need them on the weekend. Just wanted to know if anywhere had good deals for shoes (again no aldo or cheaper brands) ... Thanks again!

Thanks, i'll check them out.

Protocol at sears is 70% combed cotton and 30% nylon.

Just buy your shoes half a size larger and get comfortable insoles.

...and coloured socks are always fun!
