I was poking around on the MS site looking for some SharePoint info and saw that you can now download the designer for free. I've never used it so I can't comment on how good it is. A Hotmail or Live account is needed, however, to download:

You should put this in the freebies section. Free software isn't really a hot deal. Microsoft has a bazillion programs you can download for free. Check out their Live site for some really useful stuff.

1) This IS the freebies section.
2) Not a hot deal? How many free WYSIWYG HTML editors are there out there with all the features that SharePoint Designer has?
TechSupportAlert is the place to go for quality freeware; their list of free website composers which stay up to date is pretty thin: http://www.techsupportalert.com/best-free-html-editor.htm.
