Canadian Tire now has the 485 on sale for $399 (1/2 price): Napoleon%2BTed%2BReader%2B485%2BSeries%2B3-Burner%2BPropane%2BBBQ.jsp (http://www.canadiantire.ca/AST/browse/2/OutdoorLiving/TheOutdoorRoom/ClassicFurniture/PRD~0851656P/Napoleon%2BTed%2BReader%2B485%2BSeries%2B3-Burner%2BPropane%2BBBQ.jsp)

I'm looking for NG and think I'll pick up the 485 with the IR sideburner.

Gormans is also having a clearance on all of their bbqs and I'm going to go there and check it out.

I got a Signet 20 for $370 (tax incl.) at HH two weekends ago. I can't seem to find very many reviews on it. Propane, not NG.

Is this a good BBQ? ...good price?

Cheers!

if you have a weber that works perfectly, keep it. no point in upgrading or downgrading if you don't buy another weber.

if you are the original owner, try calling weber and getting some parts warrantied, from what i understand and have seen first hand, their warranty is one of the best in the bbq business.

For those still looking for a BBQ on clearance in the GVR area, I was down to the Broil-Mate 3-burner at HD for $299 and the Char-Broil 4-burner at London Drugs for $349. In the end, I didn't think I needed an extra burner, so I went with the Broil-Mate and picked up one tonight. There was still 5 left at the HD on Terminal Ave.

If your ever in the USA, check out this model at Cabela's, i picked it up last year and it's awesome. It's a 7 in 1, so you can use is has a propane bbq, charcoal bbq, deep fryer, boiler, propane smoker and charcoal smoker.
It holds the temps perfectly using propane, it's also great to use to bbq with charcoal, because you can use the propane to get the coals going. No need to soak everything in lighter fluid.
It sells for $179.

The issue is more cosmetics. It's one of the older Silver series which simply came without doors, etc. Just black with tube legs and pretty ugly! Was looking for a larger one with stainless steel, doors, etc.

I believe that model has an inferior burner compared with the Crown series.

But still a good deal, especially with the rotisserie.

I looked through Broil King's website, and can't find any lower/inferior models that match the specs... unless it's an older model?
I'm still guessing it's the Crown 10, unless proven wrong.

Don't know anything about it, just thought I'd throw it out there. I'm looking for something a little higher budget myself - NG, infrared. But for $200, a broil king is probably a better bet than comparably priced centro/masterchef/charmglow/superstore/etc no name brands.

Yep. They have the same assembly manual, but if you look at the parts list you can see the differences.

The Crown 10 has the "Super 8 Infinity" burner, whereas the 9959-74 has the "H" style burner. Besides that seems to be cosmetic differences (except of course 9959-74 has the rotisserie)

Wonder how many they'll have per store.

I bought 4 of the Uniflame "C" for $199 at Walmart, needed them for cottages, they seemd like a good buy. Also watch out for Uniflame "F" BBQ, it shows it as $178, but it's the natural gas model, the propane one is $248, boxes look the same except for little picture in corner of box.

I got one today. It looks like a quality bbq. The aluminum is a nice touch. It's made in ontario by the same company that makes weber. It doesn't have the super 8 burners but it's still nice. I think it's better than the 'crappy' brands that CT carries.

Assembled mine this morning. Very easy as much of it was pre-assembled. Nice quality, and a good deal.

However, OMC doesn't make Weber, just distribute them in Canada.

Sorry, I know it's off topic but can anyone suggest a quality cleaner for stainless steel? I got some scorch burn on my stainless steel Vermont Castings from the clearout from Costco a couple years back. Left the heat too high for too long and now there is a brown "scorch" around the lid. There's also all kinds of BBQ splatter that I am having a hard time removing. Soap and water as well as interior use stainless steel cleaner don't seem to work.

I have the same unit.. I use a razor blad to remove the build up that forms on the tray in front of the grill.. and the brown crust that forms on the lip of the lid. Follow that with a scouring pad and some soap and water.. always going with the grain of the metal.. and it always comes back like new.

The materials are not the greatest (Thin metal) but it does it's job. Cooks evenly and it has a large cooking area. 60,000 BTU total. Heats up to 550 celcius with all burners running, down to about 350 with only one running.

Goleafsgo,

I've seen this at the local Walmart (box is heavy enough) but am wondering how well this unit will smoke 'low and slow' without an offset firebox. Is that an add on/option for this unit?

Wondering where the best selection of charcoal smokers is to be found in the Toronto to Barrie area. Lots of different makes between vertical and offset, just not seeing too many available in the stores I have checked so far. Any help would be appreciated.

anyone actually have this smoker? i'm looking for one and the box warranty said "if not satisified, return for full refund" or something similar.

might be worth purchasing but would like some personal reviews first.

I have been holding out for a new BBQ and finally have decided that now is the time.

I am thinking of spending $300 on the Broilmate Stainless BBQ from HomeDepot.

But I need some advice, if I wait longer will I be able to get a better BBQ, ie. Napoleon or Blue Ember for around $500?

I live in Calgary, if anyone can hook me up with a deal I would be owing a favour.

slim pickinens right now, but i'm sure you'll find something. if you don't find anything, there are always some good deals at the start of the year. when i was at HD in the spring, they had some ducanes outside in the garden section for 1/2 off lowest price, so they were like $250 or something crazy like that. i guess they didn't sell in the fall, they stuck them somewhere in the back for winter and then blew them out before putting out the new stock.

Costco at Warden and Ellesmere had the same smoker for 59.99. There were about 4 left when I picked mine up today.

I have this unit at home, it sucks. I am going to put his at the curb this weekend with a FREE sheet stuck to it.

AWESOME FIND!!! I've smoked brisket and ribs in my kettle but it was such a hassle trying to maintain the temperature. Do you know how much it is? I'm guessing Ontario Gas BBQ is the only place to buy it in Canada.

$60cdn+about $15 shipping (no duty of anything) for the smokenator and the hovergrill which allows for more meat on the grill is another $25. apparently it's great, works and then you don't have a 2nd grill/smoker lying around. just use your weber kettle.

and yes, i think it's only sold from ONTARIO GAS BBQ (http://www.bbqs.com/smokenator-m-52.html)

and for all your bbq questions, answers, recipes and smoker questions, be sure to check out BBQ SOURCE (http://www.bbqsource-forums.com/invboard/index.php?act=idx), it's a great forum

i debated and debated on which cheap smoker to get, i bought the brinkman only to realize it's not that great, i was going to do a DIY model like this one (http://bbqlikeapro.com/building-your-own-bbq-barrel-smoker.php), or this one (http://www.twothirds.org/2005/09/26/smoking-pot-a-cheap-terracotta-flower-pot-smoker-ala-alton-brown/), only to come back to the smokenator on the suggestions of the fine people on BBQ Source.

tons of videos and forums on the smokenator as well. amazon.com sells it and i think it gets all 5/5 stars.

yes, but the WSM is $344USD, plus shipping (didn't know they would ship to canada), whereas the smokenator is only $60+shipping.

don't get me wrong, the WSM would be my first choice for a smoker (or the Big Green Egg), but there is no way i can justify that much on a smoker right now.

nice purchase. pm sent.

Just picked up a Brinkmann Hampton 4 burner with a side from Walmart. Regularly $389 but on sale for $250. http://yourehomegeorge.com/Canada-FeaturedPage.jsp?selection=listingDetails&assetId=40545&imageId=56361&departmentId=203&categoryId=1496&tabId=6

The materials are not the greatest (Thin metal) but it does it's job. Cooks evenly and it has a large cooking area. 60,000 BTU total. Heats up to 550 celcius with all burners running, down to about 350 with only one running.

Hey kasm, was just in walmart tonight and they have lowered this bbq down another $50, i will be going in tomorrow to pick it up.

That's a great price. I've used it half a dozen times and no problems. A similar one is rated as a best buy from Consumer's Reports for Budget Gas Grills.

One thing is because the metal is a bit thin, if you're moving it, I suggest lifting it over grass as opposed to rolling it. I tried rolling it on grass from my garage to my back yard and the torque warped the cabinet a bit so the doors stick a bit now.

Would you believe that I bought this BBQ from the Calgary Deerfoot Walmart for $150 yesterday?? The Natural Gas model is $150 clearance while the Propane is still $250. Weird!! I was going to save up and buy a Weber in the spring but this was too good to pass up. There was one remaining NG yesterday so I'm not sure there arew any left. There were about 6 Propane.

Good build quality, as long as it's one of the retrofitted models.

well, was just at Goeman's this weekend during their "private" sale... was going to pull the trigger on a Weber S-320 NG.. wanted to sleep on it Saturday and go do a bit of research as they were pricing it out at $1229 Tax in.

I went back today as we needed a bbq anyway but when I went back, they told me prices were plus tax since it was a "clearance" item. All the rest of the bbq's were no tax except this one:evil: plus they were telling me the cover for the bbq is now $79 (they told me max would be $69), delivery would be $50 + tax and install would be $30 + tax...

long story short, I didn't get it as I was already on the fence with the tax in figure, but now they were charging me + tax (basically all their items in the store were advertised tax in), and they wouldn't honour what the sales rep told me yesterday... very deceptive and not accommodating at all...

are there any other reputable places selling this model for a good price?

Any chance you wanna take a trip down to Buffalo? Home Depot sells 'em for $869. Good exchange rate, and shouldn't have to pay duty on it (made in USA)?, just Canadian taxes.

They will ship to Canada, but cost for shipping to Western Canada is $200, so I think it's a bit high for me. Maybe useful for someone in the east.

I'm pretty sure that is the end of season clearance price, as I paid the same back in August and it was on sale then. If you search this thread, you will see that it went on sale several times over the season, regular price was $475, but it often went on sale for somewhere between $299 and $319. But don't count on that kind of pricing until we are well into the BBQ season next year.

In many cases most bbq manufacturers will HIGHLY discourage conversion kits from being used. If not assembled properly there is the possibility for leaks and/or fire.

Food for thought.

+1 for the Broilmate. but at this time of year, you might be better off waiting until the spring. i saw a few at HD this spring out in the garden section for DIRT CHEAP. there were 2 Ducane Affinity 4100 NG BBQs for under $300, retail probably around $750+

Except that in this case, the BBQ manufacturer advertises the fact that this BBQ can be easily switched to Natural Gas, and they sell the kit themselves. I ordered mine through Home Hardware, and installed it myself (extremely easy to do).
