Does anyone know where I can buy vitamin E oil (and which section I would find it in) to help reduce acne scars? I tried shoppers drug mart, walmart and loblaws and couldn't find any. Any help would be great. Thanks

Shoppers drug marts sold it to me for my operation scar. Maybe it is behind the counter now? Did you ask Pharmacist? It is a thick clear liquid that you paste on.

Won't vit E cream clog up your pours and promote acne?

you should be able to find it at Shoppers, Walmart, and Loblaws.

Look for the Brand: "Jamieson".

Here's what it'll look like:

There may also be the walmart/shoppers generic brands too, which would work the same and are cheaper.

Vit E oil is really great for scars, but it's really really viscous/thick. I'd only put them on the scar area and not the face because yeah you might break out. It also makes a good mosturizer, makes lashes longer, etc but it is very sticky.

The Jamieson vitamin E oil in the little cylindrical container can be found at Shoppers, Walmart, and Zellers (that I know of) in the pharmacy section. I've only used it on burns and cuts on my hands, and that works really well, but for your face it's going to be too thick and oily. It'll stick to your pillow and really stand out otherwise. I've seen that they make vitamin E creams marketed specifically for the face, but I'm not sure if they'd have the same effect.

Also Nutrition House and most other health food stores in malls.

As for clogging pores, it would be a concern if you are using it to cover a widespread cluster of acne scars, but if it's just here & there, it shouldnt be too much trouble if you are spot-targetting the scar with a swab. You can't just slop it all over the face like you would for stretchmark areas.

For deeper scars Vitamin E overkill can make the skin to soft to heal over fully. I'm not sure if an acne scar can be bad enough for this to come into play.

It's best to dry it out first with astringent or wound dressing powder before moving on to the oil for the fading phase.

A few years ago I was planing to try Manuka, but my acne became much less freequent and the scars were never significant enought to leave marks.

You don't necessarily need to find the vitamin e sold in liquid form. You can also purchase the capsules, and then just pierce a capsule and squeeze the liquid directly onto the effected area. I've done this many times for different purposes, and it works just as well. Then you have it on hand to take orally as well. However, I think for acne, vitamin e (http://www.seacoastvitamins.com/topic.php?health=vitamin+e) is recommended to take orally, as opposed to applying it to the skin (for the same reason that others have pointed out...it could cause further breakouts and clog pores).

try bio oil

I also recommend BIO OIL, you can get it at Shoppers and Walmart for around $10 a bottle. I used it on a few scars and it works great...I actually still use it in the winter as a night moisturizer. A friend of mine used it on her acne scaring and in about 2 months it had really imrproved her scaring.

Yes, it is what I am doing right now. Just go and buy the Vitamin E in capsule, cut it and let the liquid flow out, then rub the scar area as recommended by your doctor. Go for those natural instead of the artificial made.

vitamin e cream works just as well as the oild, but it take a little longer to get rid of the scars. i first used the oil but found it too thick, so i switched to the cream and its much better. it also acts as a moisturizer as well. i've been using vit e cream for just over a year now, and my acne scars are hardly visible anymore

The liquid inside those capsules still seem pretty oily/sticky and pore-clogging. Probably best to take orally instead.

Not all oils clog pores, it depends on the types of oil.

Vitamin E oil is found at walmart near the pharmacy (of course, this might depend on the walmart). I've never looked for it at shoppers, but I'm sure it's there too. It's even available at the A&P.

I started purchasing Vitamin E oil before it was available in these common places, and back then I just went to the health food store.

It actually does help heal, it's anti aging and is excellent for the skin.

Emu oil is phenomenally soothing and nourishing without cloging pores (only need bean sized droplet to work into the entire cheek/neck area after shaving) but it is extremely expensive and I don't know if it has any healing properties or ability to temporarily iron out lines.
