The hubby drove by Victoria.Ave & Eglinton.Ave East this morning and he saw a sign mentioning that ZELLERS ( @ the Golden Miles) is having a closing sale ( most likely a re-location sale) 30% off the entire store!

If I recall, that's in Scarborough. Not to be confused with the Zellers on Victoria ave in Regina :P

Either way, the Regina store isn't advertising this as of this evening.

Even video games? 60$ games for 42$ not a bad deal. Exact address is 1880 Eglinton Avenue East, scarborough

was there today..
"UP TO 30% OFF"

Electronics is only 10% off...including video games and consoles. TV's are overpriced there anyways, given the "brands" ie. Konka, Curtis, so not much of a deal on those...yet anyway (may drop down further as the moving date nears)

they are moving a few kms east, not sure of the exact date though.

As soon as the popular items are sold out...they're likely liquidate the remaining "junk" to70-80% off.

If they are indeed moving and not closing, then they're probably only going to further discount the really crappy junk.

1. A Walmart Supercentre opened a couple of years ago just east of them. Zellers is building a new store just east of the Walmart. Therefore, this old location will close. Store fixtures already have stickers saying "going to store #123", etc.
2. This location no longer follows the sales in the flyers. As far as I can tell, they're just clearing out the existing stock.
3. Earlier this week, it was 10% off the lowest ticketed price (maybe there were some exceptions, but I could only see 10% signs), which is nothing special, unless you really had your heart set on something that was regular price at other Zellers and you can't get cheaper (a Beaumark small appliance?)
4. Toys are mostly clearance items, so nothing popular/good. Clothing is mostly what they sell in the winter. They seem to have brought in some bikes and generic summer toys, though.

The new store is still being built at Eglinton and Thermos (where the Thermos plant and a car dealer used to be), just east of Staples. That area is getting crazy for traffic and this and a Lowe's going in where the old Wal-Mart was are going to make it busier.

Thanks OP. I'm going to try and check it out this week.

I have no idea that Lowe's will take that old Wal-Mart location. They didn't show any Lowe's logo on the stick stand.

They're pretty much done constructing the exterior of the Lowe's building. It's going to be a Lowe's with Garden Centre.

Yeah, I thought it would be Rona or Canadian Tire. They are striking similar design but you are right. Lowe's are growing and it's gonna be tight competition for Rona because they are right next door.

What a dumb place for a Lowes with Rona so close by.

This area needs a Chapters, not a Lowes.

+1. Really, like we need another big-box lumber store around this area. HD is not far away either--less than a 10min drive.

Thanks OP! Picked up a laptop desk for $9.97. Still about 20-30 left.

It's up to 30% off. But most things are 10% off.

They moved besides Staples (north/east side of warden/Eglinton)? Am I right?

The old walmart building has been torn down (south/west of eglinton/warden beside FS) but I don't know what they are doing with that vacant space, there is a construction but no idea what it is all about.

In Scarborough, It seems that if there is 10 different stores selling the exact same thing 10x as many people shop there since people like to shop around for the best deal. The retailers seem to make out just fine. I avoid the whole Kennedy/Eglington surrounding area like the plague since the traffic so bad.

There is a Lowe's sign on the fence on the Warden side. Wonder when the Rona next to Staples on Eglinton (not the one on Warden) will close and what will go there. I would think that Lowe's would have a better location if they had taken over that Rona on Eglinton.

Lowes sign is also on the big sign with all the stores in that plaza.

Anyways, staying on topic, hopefully if we wait a bit...maybe they'll have a bigger clearance on games and electronics...lol

I was there today. Nothing great. I asked the sales guy at the electronics dept where all the bluray movie were. He told me they moved them all out. I'm assuming so they didn't have to sell them cheaper. A bit of a scam. He said they moved all the PS3 consoles out too.

How is it a scam? They will reduce the prices on items that are too expensive to move or junk that didn't sell forever.
