Probably the best Chicken and Mashed Potatoes you'll get.
Same owner in Downtown area.
Funny thing is someone in my house ordered on monday so when i went to get the door. There was no other car in sight except for a porsche Boxter.
so i said to the Delivery guy did you come in that.
Yes he Said!

I'm thinking about getting a delivery job at popeyes now.
I did not tip him,he did'nt need it as far i see.

I like popeye's, but I cant have it too much, there is just soo much oil in thier chicken.
But like many franchises, the service there depends on the management...like the one dowtown (near the eaton center) and the one on dundas are not bad...but the other day I went to one near dixie and eglinton and OMG...it was so horrible in there...it was all guys working with no gloves on and dirty clothes, the sandwich they made was horrible, the chicken was falling out, bun was so disgusting...so yeah, I like popeye's but only once in a blue moon..ugh dont EVER go to the one near dixie and eglinton!

if you go to the better locations during the busy times, there is no grease soaking through the wax paper and box is not all oil soaked..

it's when they aren't busy that the chicken is all super oily,etc.. kinda like how chicken always is from KFC

Yonge St., it's been there for years.

Try the chicken etouffee sometime.
It's one of my favourites at Popeye's @ York University.

U ever notice popeye's dont clean their chicken pieces well? They actually fry their pieces with some of the internal organs intact. It's gross looking at the bottom (other side) of a big piece because u always know there's something black and brownish u shouldnt be eating.

KFC doesnt do that, only popeyes does.

KFC tastes like crap..popeye doesnt... i'll gladly take popeyes with some organs over the bland KFC

i find them both to be the same price..e.g. 2 piece combo at popeyes is 5.69 and 3 piece is 6.89 its same as KFC..i actually find KFC to be a lil bit more expensive and KFC charges you for white meat if you want it in a combo and the piece is smaller than popeyes too...lets not talk about the difference in taste :P

yeah, popeyes is great. i usually get the fries instead of the mashed potatoes because i like the canjun fries, and because instead of having a large order of fries, you only get this little scoop of mashed potatoes. i have had a few problems with the employees of popeyes though. the one near yonge and finch had bad service, they kept on staring at me when i was eating there. the one near spadina and dundas (besides pizza nova) was also bad service, the guy didn't give me any ketchup and when i asked for some he got all pissed off. i hate to just mention the bad, so i'll mention a good expierence. i went to the popeyes in sheridan mall (jane and wilson) and got a free 2l pepsi from the nice lady that was at the counter :D

Popeyes is solid as a fast food chicken place; frequented the one at York University a lot.

It's really rich, both in ingredients and price, so I don't go too often anymore...still, it blows KFC away.

when they say halal, the chickens are killed in an ethical way not like KFC.

And they like the chicken hand after so they drain their entrie blood i think.

Hows halal more ethical? Slitting an animals throat and letting it die slowly by bleeding to death is painful.

Hard to tell because the KFC@York is also a Taco Bell (same corporate owners-Yum! Brands, Inc http://www.yum.com/). They have only 1 line.
The KFC@York is also Halal.

Its Tuesday!! I find that Popeyes chicken is bigger then KFCs. But i have to say while i'm high KFC chicken taste damn good. But i'm off all that fast food stuff now, trying to keep in shape and eating KFC or Popeyes won't help.

If you guys think its too greasy.. Try the chicken strips.. Best thing invented since sliced bread. They arent greasy at all.. plus you cant see the organs.. They are AMAZING, especially with the hotsauce

ughh I'm hungry now  ..

Anyone else noticed that the Cajun Rice in Canada tastes different to the one in US? I prefer the US version with finer ground beef.

It's almost like the cajun/dirty rice I make with pulverized chicken livers instead of ground beef. This is the only dish I make which tastes as good if not better than one in store.

I m still savoring over the popeyes lunch I had. The chicken tasted good (unlike KFC which tastes like re-fried chicken), dipping a little Louisiana hotsauce to give it some kick but not too much so the sour taste wont overtake the spiciness of the chicken. The breadcrumbs were a bit over done, and they didn’t remove the browned chicken organs from the meat, but I didn’t mind that.
The mash potato was hot with steam and creamy, a little too much sauce, but still very good. the biscuit was great too, warm, crumbly and just the right amount of butter on the top. Excellent. On the expensive side, almost 7$ for only 2 pieces, sides, biscuit and the drink.

is there a tuesday special ??? :cheesygri

from what i kno, it has to do with it being more clean, not ethical. someone can correct me on this, but i think its right.

anyways back to the food, i think popeyes has the best friend chicken out there, definitely blows KFC out of the water. total different league!!!!! its always crispy. so wrong, but so right :D
