Hi,

I'm thinking about wearing a completely black long sleeved shirt tonight which(not a tuck-in dress shirt). Would it be ok to wear a white t-shirt under it (think your regular "Hanes" kind)? The shirt will not be buttoned up all the way, so I'm not sure if it'll look good with white showing. I do not wear black often at all hence me asking.

Thanks. The occasion is rather important and I do not want to mess it up. :)

That would look really cheesy, IMO.

No. If you absolutely must wear something underneath, wear a wifebeater or at most a black tshirt.

White under black is never too offside, especially if it's with jeans.

But if you're more of a colours person, maybe Orange, Tan or pale Gray? If there is something that complements the colour of your belt or watch that might be a way to go.

In the end, if your a T-shirt underneath type of guy, it's probably more important that the fabric & the neck area is in good shape, not looking worn out or like some $5 FOTL fabric.

It's "okay" at best. But it's no longer 1999, that just doesn't look "good" anymore.
