I just notice there's a new feature within the RBC online banking this morning.
Seems rather useless aside from the fact that you can pay multiple bills within one page. Anyone know what the purpose of this is?

TD has had the ability to pay multiple bills for quite some time. I assume we're talking about the same feature.

Here's why I think it's useful:
If you're paying more than one bill at the same time, you don't have to pay one bill, go back, pay the other bill, go back, pay the other bill, go back, etc. etc.

You can do it all in one step. How is that useless?

well it avoids repetition, that's about it. *shrugs* Is it an OMGWTFBBQ SO WONDERFUL? No.

I pay all my bills on credit card anyway...so the only time i would use my bank to pay is when i have to pay my credit card.

Yeah, this is not useless if you are busy and your time is worth a lot.

Well i dont see how a person can have SO MANY bills to pay unless he is in a business. I mean the difference will be like 1-2 minutes.

I assume it's still counted as a single transaction per bill payed. It's weird how the function of multiple bills transaction is limited though. i.e can't pay other RBC clients through this function

You Gotta Love how people on RFD post on here just to get their post count up when they know nothing about the specifics relating to that thread or even deal with the bank....but back on topic now.

Now let me tell you why THIS IS A BIG DEAL...to anyone who deals with RBC.

As I always believe I should show where I got my information from...here's the link: http://www.rbcroyalbank.com/RBC:Scq5gY71A8cAIBBqiRc/online/personal-features.html

Paying Multiple Bills
Save time by paying up to ten bills at once. Just pick the payees you want to pay, enter your payment information, and confirm.

If you have a bank account that charges fees per transaction, you’ll save money with this feature – we’ll bundle your payments so you pay only once. Plus, Payment History will keep track of all your bill payments made in the last 6 months.

View the demo of the service found here: http://www.rbcroyalbank.com/RBC:Scq5gY71A8cAIBBqiRc/welcome/published/html/personal_demo_multi_bill_pay.html

What this now means....is if you have a RBC day to day banking account that only allows for 15 debit transactions per month....each bill used to take away one of those 15 transactions, so pay ten bills now your down to 5 debits left....but with this new service (which YES most other banks already have...I'll agree with that) you can now pay up to ten bills at once and only have one transaction of your 15 used (so 14 left)....meaning your 15 transaction account now goes ALOT further.

So this is a deal for anyone who banks with RBC....and I say its about time.

Now that makes more much sense. If thats the case, not bad at all, but for me, i hate to be bounded by transactions limits.

If it's a single mom who works and parents, 1-2 minutes can make the difference between having time to pee before the babysitter leaves, and having to hold it until baby is down for the night.

I say it's about time anyone who banks with RBC move elsewhere :)

Seriously - with so many better options I don't know why anyone would stay with RBC. If you want value for your money, go with PCF. If yuou want top notch service and hours for reasonable fees, go with TD.

I can't think of any reason to be with RBC unless you get off on poor customer service and exhorbabnt fees and useless call centre reps.

Because of the Multi Product Rebate....http://www.rbcroyalbank.com/products/deposits/multiproduct-rebate.html

By having an RBC Visa and contributing min $25 a month either an RRSP or TFSA in mutual funds...your $4 account becomes free.

While I would still agree PCF and CItizens are better....keeping RBC for the teller service only....and by having all three don't pay a dime in banking fees and can use many different ATM's. Use PCF and Citizens for all banking except when you need a teller or a bank draft immediately.

I don't usually pay more than one bill at a time, to be honest. When I do, and I'm doing more than one at a time, using the multiple payment feature is quite handy. But with all you RFDers with ten billion credit cards I'm surprised that you wouldn't find the ability to pay off more than one credit card at a time useful.

alright and that's fine. Everyone is free to choose who they want to deal with. I don't really have any complaints with RBC...but other's may. It depends on each persons situation. Someone may have great service from RBC and poor TD service, while others have great TD service and poor RBC service. Depends on the person, location, and what you do with your banking.

But I still agree that PCF and Citizens with Free banking all around, is one of the best deals out there right now.

well i donno for everyone, but for me, having a billion credit cards doesnt mean i use all of them...to be honest i only use 3, and 1 of them is for places that dont take mc/amex :D

What's the point of getting so many then?

This is an honest question.

People are getting off topic here.

Anyways, this new features saves time and for some people money. Glad that they do it. But I still prefer TD over RBC. No thanks:-0

Really? Like property taxes, hydro, water, gas, other credit cards?
