I just got a copy of my credit report, and I'm seeing a Credit card I never even used that was applied for at MDG after just pricing out one of their systems, many many years ago.

Now, I had written in to cancel this card, but it's not showing as Cancelled.

I don't have the account number/card number, but if I go to a Wells Fargo office, can they cancel this for me even if I don't have the number?

Thanks...

Sounds like the salesman may have forged your signature on the paperwork to get some commission. That makes this a case of fraud / identity theft.

The credit report should have the issuer's phone number. Phone them or got to the office. Tell them that you never applied for the card and that it's identity theft. They should be able to identify based on your name and address. Get them to close it and that you want them to send you a letter confirming that it's closed.

If there is any balance, you will have to file a police report. And also the issuer may accuse you of opening it and trying to skip out on your debt, which is false, and you will have to tangle with them to get it done.
