My St. Ives apricot scrub exfoliant is just about done, I would buy another bottle but I was told by another member that the apricot pieces are too rough for the face at the microscopic level.
So, time to figure out what to get!
Background
-South Asian descent, with beigish-caramel skin.
-Occasional acne, largely due to diet and stress.
-Male, lol.
-Shave once a week or every two weeks.
Thanks!

believe it or not but the best exfoliant to use is baking soda. just mix the baking soda with a bit of water and then with your favorite liquid soap. you will find that the baking soda is so fine that it won't irritate your face, and you can always use a bit more + scrub more on spots that you want.

Definitely, I usually toss a bit of Cetaphil in as my little mixture component with baking soda.
Just make sure you have a proper pH balancer afterwords.

get the nivea men's gel face wash and micro scrub. (one is navy, one is light blue translucent tube) it's actually my bf's but i use it regularly. the gel for daily and exfoliant for 1-2 times a week. you really shouldn't be using exfoliant every day anyways...unless it is a VERY gentle one.

L'Oreal Men Expert PowerBuff Scrub,

It has really fine "grains" kind of like a microdermabrasion product. It's quite gentle, though, and I use it about once a week for 2 minutes approx.
It's the best scrub I've found, and even though I'm a girl,
I use this because it's
- so much cheaper than the L'oreal Women's Microdermabrasion set, about $10 from Shopper Drug Mart
- gentle (as long as you don't scrub it on for like 5 minutes)
- it keeps blemishes away
- and I think it's good for guys who get that face irritation (ingrown hairs I think) from shaving. My bf was borrowing my scrub for this sort of thing.

a electronic toothbrush! haha, no kidding. use a child's toothbrush, since it's more soft. i like to use it around my nose and it gets rid of the blackheads quite well.

I would reccomend the Seaweed Pore-Cleansing facial exfoliator from The Body Shop.

I've been using it for almost 2 years now, makes your skin feel soft and smooth, and does not dry out your skin either. You can go in the store and ask them for a sample.
As for the baking soda, it works well, but if you have any minor blemishes that area is really goning to flare up and become really red. It does work, but for the first few applications your skin may become redish and may be irritated.

I've sometimes mixed in ground flax meal & toasted wheat germ powder together with the baking soda to give it a little more staying power otherwise I have to keep re-loading the baking soda as it disolves. It also gives the mixture a variety of texture and granule size.
