I've been looking at an open-jaw flight from Toronto > London Heathrow and then Rome Fiumicinio > Toronto on Air Canada, departing Sun. October 11 and returning Sun. Nov. 1. Both flights are non-stop direct.
On Mar. 1, the price was $837, taxes in. I've been checking regularly and the price has dropped multiple times to $777, $747, and is now at $727, a drop of $110 in a little under two weeks.
My question is, based on your past travel experiences, how much lower will the price go based on these dates? Or have I pretty much reached the ground floor in terms of pricing? The main issue I have is that I'm going with my friend and he is still getting his money together. Our plan was to book later in the spring or early summer.

Considering a round trip ticket to London at $730 is pretty reasonable I'd say book now.
Odds are it'll go up as opposed to continuing to drop or stay at the current price.
Just make sure your buddy is in for the trip. If he doesn't have the $ for the air ticket now will he have the $ for the actual trip?

Under $750 all-in is a great price for a Europe openjaw, *especially* if it's non-stop direct!
The best fares I could find for November 2009 open jaw Rome and Barcelona was around $800pp which include connections both ways.
If you're skeptical about your friend, you might try just booking your seat and when your friend has the money, book his. Maybe the fare will be less and you can average out the fares between you? The risk is that it will go up and that there may be no seat left on that plane at a discounted fare.
I say book it, non-stop direct for openjaw Europe for under $750 is excellent, plus you collect Aeroplan points!

I don't think you can get AC YYZ-LHR under $700, especially now when they're flying 777's there. $730 is pretty good deal.
airtransat yeah, they do have cheap flights to Europe... you can go to Gatwick for $580 or so... but quality isn't AC... Just saying.

AC is having a Europe seat sale right now, ending today or tomorrow. I just bought direct tickets to Rome for 723, all in!!! Amazing considering I previously bought direct tickets for 900 (april 08) and 1800 (Christmas 08). buy now.

Thanks for the tips. Air Transat doesn't fly on those exact dates but near them, making it less convenient. They are also charging more than AC so they're pretty much eliminated.
I'm seeing my friend this weekend so I'll explain the situation. There are some other circumstances going on too. Travelling together sure is different from travelling solo!

OP - I'm looking at doing Open jaw around October too - which airline did you get that price for? Also OP do you search specifically on a website for an "open Jaw" or do you just book 2 separate one way tickets? I would like to learn how to search "open jaw" if possible.
I'm looking at flying into Barcelona and then fly out of Greece or Italy - depending on what is cheaper. We want to go to Spain, Italy and Greece and assume Bacreclona would be the cheapest to fly into.

Air Canada. They have a "multi-city" option on their flight search page.

Air Transat flies into Barcelona and Rome. Do your search on their website and just click multi city, that will give you the option of changing your return city.
As mentioned earlier also check the price of buying 1 way tickets for each city.

This is further proof of the excellent price you got... $4 more for openjaw (and non-stop direct!!!:D )!
Admittedly, LHR is probably cheaper one-way than FCO, but still, it's open jaw and the sale fares often require a roundtrip purchase.

Well, I bought the flight for $697, taxes in. The price had risen and remained steady at $747 for awhile until finally dropping this weekend. I am happy with this price!
