lf: webhost in mississauga

im looking for a web hosting company thats based in mississauga. i dont remember the name of it nor know if its still open. the only info i can provide is that they have agents who pays a monthly fee to them and acts as an agent who sells web space. i used to host a website thru the agent and he closed down. im trying to find this company in mississauga and want to subscribe for hosting service with them.

reason im looking for the one i mentioned in my op is bc their c-panel is extremely easy to use and navigate. we are using powweb.com and i find it extremely difficult to use. weve had them for almost 2 years, but no clue how to use it.

anyone else have suggestions to what the company im looking for may be? i think it starts with a letter "c" but i might be wrong.

If you have used this hosting company before, do you know any of the webhosting settings that might have been involved, such as DNS server IP addresses? These still might be lying around inconfig files or similar and could help ID the company.

where should i look for these info? its been 5 years+ since our site got suspended bc the agent didnt pay for his membership fee and all accts under his "agent acct" got suspended. one thing i just remember is his hosting supports squirrelmail and webmail (or maybe it was horde mail). not much help, i know.

If you have any information they gave you on how to configure the web hosting and get everything set up, check in that. If there is any server name or IP address listed, that could be a clue.

Sounds like they were just a reseller. In that case, they were probably just using one of the major control panel software packages. If you liked the control panel, we'll help you find which one they were using and from there you can find a host that uses that control panel software.

They use cPanel. It's the most popular control panel software, you'll have no problem finding another host that uses it.

since we dont need too much storage, we were thinking of getting the bronze plan. just checked with canaca and was told the bronze plan doesnt support mysql, so that means i cant even install a 3rd party gallery solution (gallery, gallery2, or other). is this true that mysql is needed?

anyone knows of any other host that uses cpanel and fairly cheap and reliable?

I have a server with Canada but be careful. While mySQL is supported, you won't be able to run Servlets than use JDBC to connect to your mySQL DB because they disabled mySQL J Connector. Else all those queries would take lots of server time. They pretty much for you to use PHP which I loathe.

But this scenario is true for most if not all shared hosting plan companies.

so my options are either go with their gold plan or find another host? how is their overall service? i mean, downtime, customer service, etc...

what other host uses cpanel? i heard host in usa is generally cheaper than those in canada. is that true? anyone know of host that use cpanel?
