Hello All,

Heading to Scarborough for a day with my partner who will be at the U of Toronto Scarborough Campus/Centennial College area for the day. I will then have the day to find something to do while she is doing her thing. Looking for suggestions:
- On where to stay (Hotel) within a short drive to the aforementioned area for 1 night
- On what to do in the area for 8-Hours (Activities, Lunch/Dinner Suggestions)

Thank-you!

there is not much to do in scarborough itself, the only thing i can think of is the toronto zoo. you'd be better off to take the subway downtown and hang out there.

There is nothing in that area besides the zoo. I think there's a couple Hotel/Motels on Markham Road near the 401.

Take the 38 to Scarborough Town Centre
or 116E to Kennedy Station, then the Bloor Subway to Yonge, and the Yonge Subway south to Dundas to get to the Eaton Centre.

Hey,

There's actually quite a bit to do in Scarborough. I'm not sure if you would have a vehicle or not, but all of the places I mentioned are accessible by public transit (the TTC). I would recommend going down to the Scarborough Bluffs, which is definitely a beautiful place. If you are into greenery, I would recommend going to the Port Union Waterfront. It's a brand new path/park system along Lake Ontario. Bring warm clothes, the weather is unpredictable this time of year! If you are into shopping, there is also Scarborough Town Centre. There's a large movie theatre in the mall with lots of shops and a food court. There's also the Metropolitan Toronto Zoo.

Scarborough Bluffs/Bluffer's Park (http://maps.google.ca/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=bluffers+park&sll=43.736477,-79.243416&sspn=0.167193,0.30899&ie=UTF8&z=14&iwloc=E)

As far as accommodation, I would recommend the Best Western at Markham & 401. You can never go wrong with a Best Western; and it's the best looking hotel in the area. Right beside it is a Holiday Inn Express. On the other side of the highway, there is a Travelodge (a budget hotel, I think?).

Best Western: 50 Estate Drive, Scarborough, ON M1H 2Z1‎ - (416) 439-9666
Holiday Inn: 38 Estate Dr, Toronto, ON M1H 2Z1‎ - (416) 430-0444
Travelodge: 20 Milner Business Court, Scarborough, ON M1B 3M6‎ - (416) 299-9500

Have a good time in Scarborough!

adding to the list:

Hotel: Delta East (kennedy/401)
*if you stay at Delta East your next to Kennedy Commons, 5mins from Scarborough Town Centre, 15mins from Pacific Mall (worth a visit for out of towners).

if you have a car, should be pretty good and fast driving.. UTSC is right off of the 401 at morning side and u can get there from lets say, ur hotel at markham rd and 401 within like 5 min... u can also get to scarboro town centre in like 5-7 min as well from UTSC... just a couple stops on the 401... lots of good places to eat dinner at scarboro town centre, lots of restaurants in the parking lot there...shopping at scarboro town centre or kennedy commons is a good idea, only 5 minutes apart... other than that, and the zoo and bluffers park, there isint much more in the area...

for a lunch idea... if u got the time.. take the 10 min drive from UTSC (or 5 min from scarboro town) and try a nice Johnny's Burgers... pretty good carcoal grilled burgers and the lunch combo for 5 dollars is well worth it.. it is located on victoria park just north of the 401 at sheppard...

enjoy ur stay in scarboro!

drive down morningside and go to the guild inn and walk around there. it's a nice place, granted if the weather is nice.

or go to scarborough town centre if you want to go to a mall.
