oos

Pretty decent deal for a colour laser.

I bought the Bother HL-4040CDN last week. Comparing to an HP 2605dn (which looks to be the upscaled model of the 1600), I find the Brother colour is a bit on the dull side. HP print outs look more vibrant.

This is physically large as well. So make sure you have the room for it. It's footprint may be a tad smaller than the Brother HL-4040CDN, but the HP is about twice as tall.

It was good of the OP to indicate it is YMMV since it is a Clearance item and is likely to be OOS in many areas.

It would be great if we could get in the habit of posting "Staples Clearance" in the title so readers would know right away that there are likely many areas OOS (as it is a clearance item it is Staples objective to make all areas OOS).

Just called to check store stock near me.

OOS in Whitby and Oshawa locations

1 showing in stock at the Ajax store. If you want it, you might want to call a verify....decided I don't need this that bad.

Lucky you. It is OOS in my area, but will stop by a Staples later today.

That kills the deal right there... consumables is how they get you in the end.

Price for the toners/cartridge is pretty much always more expensive than the printers now-a-days whether it be a mono or colour.

Eventually. you will learn to use refills. It costs me $10 to refill a Samsung ML-1610. My Minolta magicolor 2500W will cost me more, but then, buying another color laser will be cheaper than refills and better print quality.

Staples at Yonge and Hwy7 has 1 open/return unit, scanned at $99.97. I didn't take it as I already have a magicolor 2500W.

Using the $20 off $100 coupon will make it $80 + tax.

Demo models for these should be fine. They never plug in the printers or install the carts.

Starter carts in this model, should be 500 pages. Still can't be beat for $100...

OR - just buy refilled carts for $49 each, and they work perfectly well (at least mine has for 1.5yrs on this printer)..

Where can you find refilled cartridges at $49 each for HP Laserjet 1600?

Here's another YMMV "deal" for you (99.99% OOS likelihood).

HP2600n $199.97 sku 603615

Like the 1600 but comes with full cartridges and networking.

Saw one in Lloydminster AB, but that was probably the last one in Canada...
(Which is why I didn't bother posting it, esp since its not even online anymore.)

I am glad that a lot of Staple's "specials" are OOS. Saves me money from buying things I don't really that bad just because the price is good.

I did research on these toners yesterday for work - costco.ca was the cheapest for HP Refills - just under $400 for the 4

Staples in Slave Lake, Alberta had the 2605dn for $199.97 when I was there on friday.

Full cartridges, duplex printing, and networking.

Pretty decent for under $200. Sorry, I didn't get the sku.

For anyone interested, I saw a demo 2600n in the Staples at Whitemud and 34th st in Edmonton on Friday, better call first...
