Hey, I'm looking to buy a plasma for my rec room in my basement in the $1000 price range? Any suggestions are appreciated.... Thank you in advance. It's not a bright room and it's 18X11 sq ft....

get the panasonic TH42PZ80. Read the reviews if you like.....
It sells at BB for 1299.99, it was 999 at the source during boxing day. They are selling for $1099 in store right now.

Go with size, it should be a high priority for you room size.
Almost all the branded plasmas meet my minimum 'standard' for video quality, so it's a matter of picking the right size for the right price. If viewing Standard Definition content (like cable & STB) is important, I think the Panasonic has the edge because it has better stretch modes. I dislike the generally higher price on the Panasonics as I don't buy into the picture quality is a lot better in the Panasonics. You decide how much extra you want to spend.
Last but not least, 1360x768 resolution is just fine and it has already exceeded the eyes' resolving power from 'normal' viewing distance for 42/50" panels. So take advantage of the remaining good deals out there.
