I'll be in a city outside of Mexico City (Puebla) on the 18th.
I wanted to take a 2-3 day road trip to visit some towns, temples, highlights and maybe a beach or two.
Anyone have any suggestions?
Much appreciated,
Marco

As far away from all of the drug cartel violence as possible.

Nice pics !!
Some comments:
1. Was this the car you rented ? From which company and how much ? Mexico insurance ?

You were brave to drive Mexico-Puebla highway in this vehicle. That highway frequently has tractor trailor accidents.

Is that a scale-sized model built right onto the sidewalk ?
3. All the food looks so delicious and tasty ! Can you tell us the names of these dishes in the following pics ?

Nice pictures. I'm also curious which car rental place you rented from. Did you find it safe? Did you fly into Mexico City?
I'm in LA right now and want to drive through Mexico, however I'm scared. Some of my Mexican patients told me not to even stop in Tijuana because of stray gunfire. Than theres also the dangerous highways where you can get hit by other cars, trucks and also robbed if you stop.

Thanks for the compliments guys...
- I rented an Economy car w/unlimited kms from Hertz for $72CAD for 6 days. I didn't get insurance cause my cc covered. (Note: I had reserved a car for $42CAD from Europcar but it was a major scam when I arrived, so I would advise people to steer clear of that company, at least in Mexico).
- Driving in Mexico City and Puebla is pretty intense and dangerous to anyone who hasn't driven in an overpopulated city before. So before you attempt to do so, keep in mind that it does require quite a bit of practice, mental alertness and being open to their driving habits as opposed to Canada/US's.
- That photo is a small-scale model of Puebla's downtown care built on an elevated platform outside a government building. I took the shot at a low angle with passing traffic in the background.
- I wish I could tell you all the names of the food I ate, but alas I don't remember. FYI: Hard taco shells and burritos are NOT Mexican, but Tex-Mex. Also, the tequila that we get here in Canada is crap compared to local 100% Agave from Jalisco; it actually tastes really good!
- I flew YYZ to MEX return for $282CAD total with American Airlines.
