Recently when i opened one of my tvb series on my computer and played it on real player as usual, it started to get all choppy and laggy, then i tried older files i've played before, same thing happened. Whats going on? lol, i seriously have no clue, my computer plays everything else fine. Could it possibly be a codec problem? I've tried installing the newest real player, it also lags..
My specs:
AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200 2.4ghz
3GB ram
Ati Radeon X800
EDIT:i noticed that every time it lags/freezes for a second, the cpu usage spikes.
thanks!

Get rid of Realplayer and install Storm Codec and play it with the Media Player Classic included.
Make sure you restart between uninstalling and installing.

Does Storm Codec work on Windows Media Player, or Media Player Classic?
I used to use K-Lite Codec Pack with Media Player Classic, but recently been lazy and just use VLC since I don't watch much rmvb's.

Real Alternative if you only need the Realplayer codec.

Yes and yes, and any other players you have.
Storm Codec automatically installs Media Player Classic onto your computer just like K-Lite does.

if that doesnt work...and you got it from a torrent, try to download again with the file...I've had it happened before where it only dled 99.9% and it read 100% (download wasnt complete)

I get my files from direct downloads, like megaupload for example, and also i know they work, since i can play them on my other computers and also when i tried to play it on wm11, it worked without any lag, but there was no audio. I'll try what you guys suggested
thanks!

I like HDZone =)
I used Real Alternative before I switched to Storm Codec as well, which is basically a codec pack that includes Real Alternative. Storm allows me to watch other things as well, such as Quicktime, which I found a pain to setup a new computer with all the individual codecs, so Storm quickly took over.
Plus, using Media Player Classic rocks, and the fact that Storm installs it automatically for you is a real winner. K-Lite doesn't have RMVB so it's a loser for me :P

All I put on mine is ffdshow and realalt.
Got VLC as backup.
I find ffdshow's resize is better than MP classic's so I just resize all my videos to screen resolution.
