i need some help looking for a replacement laptop that will be used mainly for university note-taking and movie watching under $900

preferable specs:
- 13.3 or 14.1 inch
- gaming not a priority
- battery life key
- under 5 pounds

i was thinking about this laptop from dell...

http://www1.ca.dell.com/content/products/productdetails.aspx/laptop-inspiron-13?c=ca&cs=cadhs1&l=en&s=dhs&~ck=mn

but my 25% off dell coupon doesn't apply to the 13 inch one for some reason

thanks!

I'll be picking this one up for myself in a few days:

http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=36240&vpn=EPC1000HE-BLK005X&manufacture=ASUS&promoid=1044

9 1/2 hours of battery life, weighs next to nothing and has a 10" screen. Decent price too.

Hey,

Speaking as a uni student I would get the asus - in fact I plan on getting it next year for taking to class.

Right now I have an upgrade Dell Inspiron 1500 and it's no fun to carry around but it has a sick screen and is great for gaming (or was haha). Once you start living off campus it gets to be even more of a pain to carry.

If you don't want to game then the asus is a good choice, but the screen resolution is definitely lacking for watching movies. Which you will watch a lot of (DC++).

15 inchers are usually heavy to carry around though...OP need's a portable option.
