This is my first post for a hot deal.. if u think its not too hot thats cool too...

I purchased this Gateway laptop from Stooples in store (you wont find this online). If you don't like Gateway as a brand thats fine i hear enough Acer bashing and ACER now owns Gateway.. I have had this lappy for over a week and and very satisfied with it. It looks good, is pretty light and has some nice specs for the price.

I was looking for a dedicated video card to play come COD and Starcraft when its out and COD plays very well at 1280 by 768 with low settings i get 30-40 fps it only drops below 30 when there is a ton of action.

699.97

Gateway M-6874h
2.0GHz C2D T5750
3GB DDR2
250GB 5400RPM
ATI HD 2600 XT (512MB dedicated GDDR3)
15.4" WXGA (1280 x 800)
Wireless a/b/g/n
Bluetooth
Webcam
HDMI output
SKU#752557

*** This laptop actually comes with a T7500 Processor(CPUZ verified).. 800mhz fsb 2.2ghz P965 motherboard and the HD is a WD 5400rpm unit*** I have seen 2 units in the same store on display one has the original prcessor and the other had the T7500 So YMMV. If you can find one im sure it will be open box so you will be able to check.

Happy Hunting!

The website shows 899.96 though. Does anyone know how I can get the price as low as OP's 699? Or is it just a YMMV only deal?

I've seen it in few stores a while back but it's the floor model that they're selling it for that price.

Here are some more detailed specs of the laptop:

http://support.gateway.com/s/Mobile/2008/Tempest/1015717R/1015717Rsp2.shtml

EDIT: Even though Staples and Gateway say it's a 2600 XT, it is not. It is the non XT version, which makes this laptop a little colder. :(

I was there two weeks ago and I check all three boxes and non of them said T7500 on the boxes...do you have to boot it up to see and which colour did you get?

Got the last one in Ajax. The board said they had a black one but it was gone and all they had was red. Windows Experience score is 4.5. Graphics score 5.9 and gaming graphics 5.1. Bluetooth, HDMI. Not bad for $600.

yes(also cpuverified)
black

check display model and ?ask? for that one if it is the t7500 you want (device manager displays wrong info; bios and comp info window shows right i believe win+y+break). or just buy one and return it if not a t7500

+1, we still have a red gateway on display.. no one really wants it.. it's a bit scuffed up from security lock. specs are good but i won't comment on how long it will last in terms of durability and quality... but then again, you get what you pay for.

my roommate has this laptop, it's currently at gateway being repaired. I have the model before that, and mine is less than a year old and I just ordered a dell to replace it...

both of us have had hardware failures, both of our ethernet ports have broken (i have to use a USB to ethernet to get online) and I find my wireless to be awful.

I would stay away from gateway, they are made by the same people that make acer and emachines (which I learned upon taking my roommate to the service center)

for those still looking, i was able to pick up the m-6873h model from staples, paid $532+tax (after dividends/staples coupons) brand new sealed box.

this model comes with a dedicated 512 ddr graphics, hdmi port, wireless n, and bluetooth module as well. sticker says processor is centrino core2duo t5750. the red and brushed steel finish ain't that bad at all.

noticed under the windows rating system (windows experience index), graphics is rated at the maximum 5.9! lowest rating was 4.5 for the ram, which can probably be upgraded if needed (see below).

i took out the trialware and so far it seems like a decent laptop.

Regarding build quality, it probably isn't as solid as a thinkpad, but then again your paying half the price. i would recommend this model for people who just need a laptop for home use. if you travel a lot, go with something else.

this is a canada-only model, similar to another US model. i read some reviews and they were ok.
http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=287395
also found this review where owners have upgraded the laptop to a T9300 improving the processor and bus speed.
see post 240
http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=256839&page=24

at this price range i found mostly "dual core or celeron" processor machines with less features, so i'm quite happy with the features on this one.

if anyone is interested, the staples product number is 752558. Only a few stores in the GTA may have them in the back.

a similar spec (not exactly same, lower graphics spec) blue model is on clearance at the brampton trinity common SOURCE CC going for 699-100 rebate =599.

I would pass. these things seem to be made of glass, accidently drop it once and it will be in pieces. Mine is falling apart and it's never been dropped or anything, just normal wear has made the mouse buttons come loose and the ethernet port to chip. I've also had at least three screws fall right out the bottom.

I should note that when I went to the gateway/acer repair center, there was quite the lineup....
