So i bought a tablet back in October of 08, and the touchscreen just stops working. So package up my tablet, send it to Nokia, mind you they don't pay for shipping, return or to. The total for the shipping comes out to be 50 dollars all in with insurance and all, just for them to tell me this is a US device and they cant help me.... So i call them up, and ask for their help, and they say well you can send it to the US department to fix it, but you cant send it from Canada or else you wont get it returned back to you..... Wow. I have to send it from a US address, and obviously i don't have one, so I'm left with a broken paperweight. So i guess this is just a warning, if you're buying from Canada, be sure to check that its not a US model or your SOL, unless you have an American friend who can help you out.
A little off topic, but are there any services that ship/receive from the US to Canada?

I'm sorry you had to learn this the hard way...but this is a commonly known fact to avid consumers. Unless your product has an international warranty, you better pray you're dealing with the native manufacturer and not some 3rd country that has nothing to do with it.
$50 to ship to Nokia? Jesus. That's a rip off. Even on a thousand bucks, I can ship a laptop from Ottawa to Miss for ~$25 on a generously oversized box. :(. Search eshipper and register and use them from now on out for any shipping needs.
NOW., if you truly have no friends in the US., yes, you can ship it FROM Canada, but give them a forwarding address you could set up IN the US.
Search for them. They'll give you a mailing addy in the US, then charge you fees based on a myriad options to redirect all received material at that address to your Canadian Address.
Good luck,

I went through this nightmare with my boyfriend's N95 I purchased in St. Maarten last February (before it came out here). Thankfully my friend has family in the US and was visiting so he sent it on my behalf from the US and received it and then went through a nightmare with USPS (long story). Finally got the phone back, all they did was flash the phone and upgrade the software (which we did ourselves) and the problem was not resolved. Returned it back to Nokia with a long explanation of the problem and they finally sent a new phone (back to my friend's family in the US). The 2nd time around I shipped it from Canada and put a $550 value on it in case it got lost and got hit by a truly stupid duty by US Customs (despite the package being addressed to "Nokia Repair Centre" AND having a description of "cell phone repair") because they thought I was importing the phone permanently . Shipped via Purolator down to Alabama for about $35 I think and put my friend's US address on it for return. So if you do have somewhere to receive in the US, you can ship from Canada.
Just beware with the repair centre (Palco), they just flash the phones and think it's fixed...
