Hello,
My dad ordered a notebook off futureshop.ca. The product was around 1400 dollars, and apparently Canada post "successfully" delivered this product, but they never received it at my parents house. No one in my family signed for anything and I'm assuming for a product that expensive a signature might be required? What's the best course of action to go from here? Did Canada post drop this off at the door and someone swiped it? cheers

Try getting Futureshop to do a trace through CanadaPost. I think only the sender can do this, not the recipient, but I'm not sure.

I don't understand why CP would safedrop a box thats clearly from futureshop and a 1400 product. I never requested a safe drop, i'll call futureshop tommorow to sort it out.

They can safe drop unless the sender selects DO NOT SAFE DROP.

how long ago did it say "successfully delivered this product?" Sometimes things go screwy and you eventually get your stuff days later. If it's recent, give it a few more business days.

I just got off the phone with futureshop. They told me they instructed the sender to "DO NOT SAFE DROP" and implied that on the package also. The tracking also says DO NOT SAFE DROP. The package was suppose to be delievered in the morning, but when the family got home at 5, no package was to be found. We even combed the outside of the house? Futureshop said they opened an investigation, and will get back to me in 10 days? anyone have experience with this?

I was told Future shop will ship another one if they can't find the item. Hope they honor that. I rather not have to deal with MC

They only say it, but you have to see if they will do it. I would never buy anything over $200 online. Only buy items that are over $200 at retailer stores. Just my $0.02... :cheesygri:cheesygri:cheesygri

I get packages saying DO NOT SAFE DROP all the time, dropped at my front door. Only once have I actually had CP follow the instructions and not safe drop it.

CanadaPost Screws another person within the same week!
I wonder how many people they screw every day? It is one of the most expensive postal services in the world, but the service they provide is absolutely horrible.
I was expecting to receive an expedited parcel from Montreal today. My wife was all day at home. I checked the tracking after returning from work and it said that package was successfully delivered this morning. I called CP and was told that only the sender can initiate an investigation. A few minutes later my neighbor from across the street came with the package and said that it was left in front of his house.
I already called back to file a complain. This happened to me 4th or 5th time.
I guess CP employees still think they're underpaid, so it is OK if they're lazy.
OP, I would suggest you take a flashlight and look around your neighborhood.

Sign on to your Future Shop account.
Select the Order #.
Click on the Tracking Number
This will take you the Canada Post site and you can see their record of your package delivery.
They apparently tried to deliver a package to me today but there was no sign of it or a delivery notice. But the Canada Post site says it is at the local post office ready for pickup. Maybe thats where yours is!

Get the guy fired? Good luck with that one. I had a buddy who got screwed around a lot worse than you for longer than you. Send a letter of complaint and then forget about the post office.
As for the package: I can't understand why they would drop off a $1400 package when I end up having to sign for a little $15 box.
Call FutureShop and notify the CC company so a note can go in your file. You have some time to file a claim with the CC company. FutureShop is responsible for getting the package to you securely so this is their headache.
good luck,

Stupid unions.
What are we, in 1965 where corporation takes advantages of it's employees?
I am not talking about TTC, their union might be justified...but for CP...try to get one fired for not following instructions.
Impossible.

The other reason Canada post doesn't have many problems doing this is since they are part of the mail system its a federal crime to steal the package from them, which deters people a bit, but I agree, delivery drivers and company's rarely care even if a signature is required, if the person isn't home they always seem to leave it at the door.
They think they are doing you a favor doing this, and in actual reality, well I think quite the opposite.

if i were u..i'll file a chargeback with visa/mc...let the credit card company deal with FS..juss sit tight and relaxed...it happend to me b4 when i used paypal to buy somethig online...it really depends if FS purchase any insurance on the product if so u get the full amt if not the they will only reimbuse u up to 100CAD max...most likely big company will reund the money to u since they dun want to lose their reputation on credit cards companies

My problem is the postman will arrive with the "we were here" slip all ready to go.Happened 4 times. He runs up to the door with it and leaves. Now I've got to go pick it up.The package is in the truck but he doesn't bother to knock. I got the last idiot with a security camera set up just for him.
Filed the complaint, they called me and apologized, and assured me the driver would be disciplined.
That's about all you can do.

Excuse me. Either you don't work or you are very lucky to work in a company that doesn't take advantage of its employees. If you think Canada Post treats their customers poorly, guess how they treat their employees? They have a horrible reputation for mistreatment of their employees, hence the need for a strong union. Canada Post in many areas puts unrealistic demands on their employees which results in poor service.
Many times the problems with parcel delivery comes from the fact that CP has contracted out these services. These workers do not belong to the union and are paid at much lower rates. As they are paid by the day, they are given huge routes that they can't possibly do in the alloted time. With the actual hours they put in, they end up working for less than minimum wage. This is why many cut corners. So don't blame the workers, blame the company.

Same thing happens to me at BB.
I ordered online (I usually choose pick-up at store, but for the item I bought only home delivery is allowed) on Jan 1st, 09. I waited 2 weeks (Jan 15th, nothing arrived. Checked at BB web site - redirect to CP, shocked to find out delivered Jan 5th.
Jan 15th - first I called my credit card company explained to them what happened and contested the charges and then I email BB right the way received response - 10 business day for investigation.
Jan 24th - email BB again, told me investigation was started on the 20th, wait another 10 days for investigation.
Feb 3rd - email BB again, told me investigation actually started on the 23rd, wait another 10 days for investigation. I email them back instantly and give them "Sxxt". When did they actually start? 15th when I first contacted them, or 20th or 23rd. I demanded my money back or the product.
Feb 10 - They send me an email said money will be refunded and if I want, I can call them to order the same product again and BB will honour the same sale price.
Good luck to you.
