I stopped going to dealer for all other B, C, etc etc maintanance, Except for Oil Change. I mean the price looks ok and i have this feeling that the "OIL" they use is way better than other oil change places.

Does anyone have this feeling ?
Does Honda gets the oil from same place as others ? they say "Genuine" .. whats that mean ?
Are they adding any other chemicals specfically for their cars ?

Comments please ...

The main advantage of using the dealer is that if you are under warranty, you are protecting yourself from issues when your car needs a major repair.

If you got service elsewhere, the dealer may say that it was the fault of a non-authorized technician and then the major repair would not be done under warranty.

Outside of warranty, I would go to costco or do it myself.

alternative engine oil of the same weight and API service grade is usually acceptable
on a Honda using the wrong automatic transmission oil can lead disaster

I bring my own oil and filter of my choice to a local garage and they charge $12 to do the change.

My accord use 5W-20 .. the dealer charge $14 for Labour & $26 for Parts and $10 tax + disposal fees ..

that includes, top-up all the fluids and tire pressure ...

Where is this feeling from? Have you ever seen the oil they pour in? Have you ever seen the oil filter they use? Honda merely rebadges other people's products.

learn to do your own oil changes and you'll get better oil, better service, and better price.

whenever you bring it to a shop (any shop), they never drain it fully (because it takes time) and unless you bring your own oil or pay a huge premium, they're giving you junk oil.

:) At least you recognize that.

IIRC the oil is Castrol and filter is FRAM.

Select vehicles use a Honeywell made filter.

Not just dealerships but most companies love scare their customers wheb warranty is involved.

They just rebrand it.

I thought the Dealership used Penzoil oil. Maybe it's changed over the years.

Maybe for brand X it is that way for the warranty. Not for mine. The best way is to read the conditions of the warranty to be informed.

I saw Castrol GTX at one of the Honda dealership I went to. Honda branded oil is probably the same thing with different label.

Not sure how this even relates to the OP's questions but anyhow, I go to my dealership and bring my own oil. I'm pretty certain they just use bulk motor oil like any other place. My reasons for going...

- to build a good relationship with them so when I do have problems with my car, they'll be more likely to not give me a hard time about it.
- I bring my own oil and my dealer subtracts their oil from the price ($8 bucks off IIRC)
- so I'll never have to fight with them about warranty service
- they replace the oil gasket on the drain pan bolt, lube, quick inspection and top up all fluids...I've yet to have to replace my own windshield washer fluid
- they give me a complementary wash
- I trust them more than I do other oil & lube places
- Time is money and this saves me time...plus I don't have to get myself dirty.
- there are some hot chicks that work there :)

Keep in mind this is just for a basic oil change service...I rarely go for their recommended packages except for the 12 month service interval.

It's sad if they do. I never had a problem with Acura, I even saved (10%) buying my Parts from them.

No, thanks.

+1 If I didn't care about DIY, I would definitely take it back to my dealer.

I can change my Coupe in 30 minutes. I don't have to worry about driving there (saves gas, money) and usually they take more than an hour.

LOL

You drive an Import? Interesting because every Import (BMW, Lexus, Infiniti) I visited the Receptions was fine but it was a the complete opposite when I visited Ford, GM.
