I would like to see a soccer team for the following reasons:
1. Ottawa had CFL franchises before and for a myriad of reasons, it did not work. What is to say it will work again this time around ?
2. Having a pro soccer team is a change, hockey will always be No. 1 in this town and country but let's welcome the world's No. 1 game to town.
3. Eugene Melnyk has proven to be a good owner of the professional hockey franchise in town, there is every inclination he will do the same for the professional soccer franchise. I guess you can say the same thing about Jeff Hunt, although on a smaller scale (67's)
4. With the possibility of the Bills moving to Toronto when Ralph Wilson passes away, the future of the CFL is very much hanging in the balance.
5. I live in the Southwestern end of Ottawa and it will take me only 10 minutes to get to the newly proposed soccer stadium, as opposed to at least half an hour (and having to deal with the parking and traffic in the Glebe) for the CFL game. That will be a welcoming change.

Keep dreaming. The NFL doesn't really benefit from moving into Toronto, even if Toronto had an NFL stadium, which they wouldn't get government money to build because nobody outside of Ontario would stand for it, since an NFL team wouldn't benefit them in any way.

OK so I guess the other 4 points are still reasons why having a pro soccer team in Ottawa than a CFL team (again!)
Plus 15 years ago, nobody expects to see NHL franchises in the Southern States, look what happens now. Same with the NBA expanding to Canada and possibly overseas. Never say never.

Yeah, never say never, but the difference is that Toronto (and other parts of Canada) already has lots of exposure to the NFL, whereas hockey isn't exposed everywhere in the US. There's also no competition for the NHL in the US.
There's no benefit for the NFL if the CFL folds, especially seeing as there's no more NFL Europa or arena league. I'm sure lots of CFL fans would actually be really pissed off at the NFL if moving to Toronto caused the CFL to fold.

Ottawa won't have a MLS franchise in 2010. Portland and Vancouver got the nod.
It may still happen but we need a stadium first.
And I don't know what happens to Jeff Hunt and the bid to bring back a CFL team...I don't even know what the City wants to do with Lansdowne Park...We definitely need another sports franchise in this city, at least in the summer time when there's no hockey. Minor-league baseball didn't work so that's off the list.

MLS because:
-football didn't work out multiple times
-at least for the local economy and for entertainment, the longer MLS schedule would have more games to watch
-soccer is world's most popular sport

Football didn't work out because of poor management, not because the fans didn't show up.
I think Ottawa could easily support both Football and Soccer. Ottawa should at least get USL. Who doesn't want to see Vancouver and Montreal? Those are good teams.

Soccer, but no way should the city be paying $100 million for a stadium, especially one out in Kanata.
