I'm looking for a wooden balance board in the GTA. I've found one at MEC for $77, but seems kinda pricey. Any one know if any other stores in the GTA carry balance boards?

Here's the one I found at MEC:

Fitter First Wobble Board 20in. Balance Trainer $77

Any fitness store carries them. Even SportChek carries them, IIRC about $40 or so.

I'm not sure what your goals are, but here's something to keep in mind, studies prove that balance boards and other similar items are among the least effective tools at building muscle, including core muscles (stomach, back, etc.).

So if all your looking to do is build core strength, skip the balance board and do other exercises.

If you have other goals that require a balance board, then just ignore my post altogether.

I've read good things about the product on another health and fitness forum I lurk on:

I've never tried using one of these or balance board myself but it does look difficult.

I need it to strengthen my ankles due to a sports injury (torn tendon on my left ankle). Plus, increasing my balance for snowboarding is a plus...

This is the perfect reason to get it.

It is commonly referred to as a Wobble Board in rehab clinics.
You can get wood or plastic varieties. Round or square.

Getting one with a varying level on the bottom, this will ensure you don't plateau.

I have some distributor/wholesale contacts through my clinic depending on the kind that you want. PM me if you're interested.

I'm sure you can make one for cheap. Relatively easy. You can find the stuff at Home Depot.

The bosu balls are amazing. Too bad they're like $150!

My knee injury isn't getting any better even with physio. I'm going to bump this thread to see if anyone knows a cheap way of getting one of these.
