Although most treat this as a truism, I say it's false; karma'll get ya if laws don't.

I think that for weak people, they go all crazy and insane when they get scorned and rejected. These people probably think "all's fair in love and war", which is their rationalization for why it's ok to slander, post nude pics of their ex, set their car on fire (a scene in Waiting to Exhale?), etc.

If you had any class, you wouldn't stoop to these things. You would just MOVE ON.
