Finders keepers. If you leave the space its fair game.

If I lived in your building I'd be pissed that residents were taking up visitor spots in the first place. Seeing as how it's visitor parking I don't see how you are at all entitled to it.

OP - those are visitor's parking spots, not yours, your neighbours, or the newbie's. Technically you're all in the wrong here, but that's just technically.
Don't you guys have your own spots?
There's no "street creed" when it comes to spots that you don't even own. I suggest buying a new house with more parking spaces if this is really going to be such a problem for you. You can yell at the newbie all you want for "destroying what was originally no problems" but then s/he would argue why you and your neighbour has the right to park there (which is basically how you want it to turn into) but s/he does not.

I'd say the guy who parks their the least has the most right to the spot as he is the closest thing to a visitor.
Since you ahve lived there the longest you should know better and look for a real parking spot that is assigned to you or move as you have been there too long.

Maybe I should make a collage of all the bad parking this person does?
Yes, please

Fair enough. I knew these responses would come up.
Really, everyone does it all over the complex. We have 1 driveway and it's not enough for anyone, so we're all parking all over the street and in visitor parking. Again, the super doesn't patrol visitor parking so there's no such thing where we live ... it's resident parking (that's the best I can explain it, really).
I think what pisses me off the most is that I have to park my car further away from my house, where it's security is a concern. I care about my car and I don't like having it where I know it can easily get broken into ...
Meanwhile, this idiot in my spot (or my neighbours, whichever) is making our lives a living hell because they can't drive and regularly park like idiots.
Maybe I should make a collage of all the bad parking this person does?
IT'S NOT YOUR SPOT. It's visitor parking. You have ZERO claim to that parking spot.

I just talked to my neighbour about it ... turns out the guy is touching my neighbours car RIGHT NOW as we speak ... I took some pictures.
I told them it's not a big deal because it's bumper to bumper but still, the point is this person can't drive for crap ...
Loading some pictures up shortly.

How big is your complex? It only has one driveway to park in, but 2 visitor spots?

That's kind of sad......its a parking spot thats not reserved...whoever gets their first uses it...end of problem.

Visitor parking != reserved resident parking. You are the one with 2 cars and one extra which does not have a reserved parking slot. Why not buy a 2nd one instead of using designated visitor parking?
'Entitled to park in a visitor parking spot', LOL that's the funniest thing I've ever heard.

I'm sorry to say this but the logical thing to do is to buy a new house with more spots. It despises me why there are always problems with parking - not speaking about yourself personally, but there's so many people here that claims they have too many cars for their garages and driveways, which made no sense as when questioned, they claim to NOT use their garage for car but for storage!
Back on topic. I saw the first two pictures. This might be a route you can take. If the newbie is such a bad driver, both you and your neighbour can tell him to stop parking there because s/he keeps damaging your cars. The 2nd picture should be sufficient enough. Ask him to pay for the damages. Do this enough times and he'll stop parking there.

After living somewhere for over 10+ years (lets just say), it's sort of difficult to decide okay, I'm going to move because I don't have any parking. The solution is we all just deal with it. This is our method of "dealing" ...
What you've mentioned about speaking to the bad driver is about where I'm at. I haven't all this time but that's the next step in line.

There are cars plowed in all over my complex which is all "Visitor Parking" ... it's not just my little section of 2-car parking, it's in the entire complex where the super allows its residents to park in the visitor parking. He picks up the garbage so he see's it every Monday and Thursday ...

why not use the fire route? I mean come on... the fire department never makes use of it. You've been there the longest right...

Are there lines painted on the ground? Do you have a picture of the van from behind?
Right now, all anyone can tell is that the two vehicles are touching and that there is some room behind the car. Is the car parked in one spot with the van too far forward or is the car too far forward? Was the car parked first or was the van parked first?

Ultimately, that's all I'm looking for. It may not be a problem where Jack lives and it may not be a problem where Jill lives, but it's a problem where I live.
Some days I choose to take other methods of transportation so that I don't have to move my car and move my spot ...
And what else would you call me living in an area longer than others ... I couldn't think of a term, seems like the one that fit ;)
It was a pure coincidence that they were up against my neighbour's van ... I went outside to take pictures of how it looks and the sign for you guys but then I found the 2 cars touching ...

Thats like saying that the spot in front of your house on the street is yours when their are not posted parking restrictions on it. It does not matter how long you have been their the spot does not belong to you. In most complexes extra spots can be purchased or rented so if you are not paying extra for the spot then you have no more right to it than anyone else.

Okay, now that we've beaten that to death, lets solve the problem of the parker who can't drive, who's smashing into my car.
Thank you.

You have no entitlement to permanently park in visitor parking. You real complaint lies with your building management for not providing adequate parking.
If the guy is damaging your car, try to get evidence and report it to the police / collision reporting centre. It is a serious offense to leave the scene of a collision.
