Checked out the 2009 Altima and quite impressed with it. Anyone buy the 2.5S or SL and have any feedback on the car?
They're currently doing a 0% financing rate for 3 years - or 1.9% for 5 years.
If anyone has an invoice, please let me know.

I picked up my brand new 2009 Altima 2.5 S with AC and Conv Pkg a few weeks ago. I had asked around for a CCR but no luck. I did some vague calculations based on other Nissan markups. Managed to get mine for $26K plus tax with about $600 in other options. I was starting to think it wasn't as good a deal as I thought. Thanks for for posting the CCR now I feel better. If anyone wants a referral to a good dealership let me know. We worked out my deal via email and didn't have to waste time haggling in the sales office.

It means that Nissan is actually discounting the MSRP by 1500$ until March 2, 2009. A nice dealer will pass this on to you. A crooked dealer will sell you the car at 1000$ discount and like they are doing you a favour.

I had one dealer tell me that even though Nissan is offering a $1500 rebate it costs them $1000 to obtain the rebate. Ridiculous! And even other dealerships didn't even mention the rebate. No surprise that I didn't buy from either of them!

The $1,500 is real money that Nissan will give the dealer. As soon as you let the dealer know that you are aware of the trading dollars, the deal improves dramatically.
Take the 2.5S with CVT and convienence package as an example. The total dealer cost including air tax is $26,030. Take off $1,500 and you have the real dealer cost (ignore any hold back as you won't get that). Then add what you feel is fair as an offer to the dealer.
In this economic climate, you should be able to get away with 2% or 2.5% over dealer invoice less incentives. So if dealer cost on this sample car is $24,530, add $570 profit and try $25,100. You should be able to nail that price. I found one at $24,804 plus PST and GST if that helps.

Did the $24804 include Freight/PDI and Air condition tax?
I always wonder if that is something you should try to negotiate into the final price before taxes...

A/C Tax is non-negotiable it's a government imposes fee. Negotiate every other little thing though. In the end it's the overall price including everything you want and need to pay that counts. Otherwise, they may try to tack on additional fees.

You're not really negotiating the freight & pdi it's the total cost. What you're putting out of pocket.
mpsrent
Feb 12th, 2009, 10:05 PM
Freight & pdi are fixed costs. You really don't negotiate them, what you are negotiating is the vehicle price. The $100 air tax is also fixed.
When I negotiate I work on the total price plus GST, PST and license. That's it. I have no interest in admin fees, etching etc. and I make it very clear to the sales rep to get to the point.

Walkley Nissan in Ottawa. It's a regular 2.5 SL sedan with CVT (Ebony colour, so no extra paint charges).

They actually had a new 2008 Altima 3.5SE coupe for $30-31k cash all-in. I didn't really pursue it though as I find the coupe's trunk too small for me.

I just signed for my first car last night... 2.5L CVT with convenience package - niagara grey. It came out to just shy of $28k including tax and all those other add ons. They also threw in a few oil changes... awesome people.
With $3k down... my monthly payments run about $440.

It was strictly stock in terms of what was in the package. Threw on the convenience package, and added the $135 for Niagara Grey. No other add-ons.
I plan on tinting the windows in the summer though.

Anyone having trouble with the relay fans or overheating? The odd time that I got stuck in traffic and had to idle for more than a minute or two, my engine temp soared. Sad to say that my new Altima is sleeping at the dealership. They are unable to find out what the problem is. They had to put in a call to Nissan tech?!? I hope I find out today what the problem is. I deferred payments for 90 days so I still haven't made a payment, but now I have no shiny, new car.
Anyone have suggestions?

I forgot to mention mine was on a 60 month finance deal at $440/month. I technically could've got it for about $435 but I had the $135 paint and $200 walkaway thrown on.
3000 + (60 * 440) = $29400~ .... thing that makes me mad is I could have gotten it cheaper. The price dropped about $2k the day after I signed.

$1500 of that discount was from Nissan Canada then we negotiated the rest. No down payment on that also, plus we got the gas card ( $0.20/L discount for up to 3000L). We also realized that we were eligible for the grad rebate which gave us an additional $500 discount and 0.25% reduction in finance rate (now 1.65%). Final price is $494.56/month.
