Last night, around 6:30, traffic slowed to a crawl on Eastbound 407 near Mississauga Road. Ahead of me I could see some flashing lights which I figured was an accident. Then I noticed there were about 15 police vehicles, with lights flashing. Whenever we came to an on ramp, a cruiser would race ahead
and block cars from entering the highway, until the motorcade had passed that ramp. They obviously wanted to control who got near their 'quarry' in the middle of the cars. At the rear, 2 OPP suv's, weaving back and forth between the lanes to prevent anyone from getting past them.

This went on for nearly 50km, before all vehicles exited Warden Road and went north.

Did any one see this or hear what this was?
I thought they were escorting some official dignitary.

Maybe they were training for Obama's visit to Ottawa later this month. The 407 on the weekend is a pretty good place to do that.
