I'm going to be in Ontario for 8 months this year at a temporary job site (as a student). I am from another Canadian province.
Do I need to get an ontario drivers license and vehicle registration? Most Canadian provinces seem to exempt students from this requirement, but AFAIK Ontario does not.
Anyone have experience with this?

nah, you can use your out of province license and registration as you technically haven't "moved" to Ontario.

I have seen a car in my neighborhood for at least a year with Manitoba's license plates. I don't know how long can you stay out of province with same license plates?

From what I've read, it depends on the host province not the one where the car is registered.
MTO in Ontario doesn't seem to have an exception for students.. or temporary workers for that matter.

I moved from Quebec to ONT. I remember reading MTO that I have to change my driver license up 31 or 60 days after I moved. And my Quebec Insurance required me to change my resident address if I'm away from my current Quebec address for more than 3 months.
That was when I move permanently tho, but just to study. You better call MTO to make sure.
