A dentist and at least three patients are shaken but unharmed after three armed young men robbed a dental office Thursday evening.
Three masked men entered the Kennedy Dental Office near Kennedy Rd. and Ellesmere Rd. at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
The robbers pulled out guns, pressed them up against the victims' chests and demanded everything from money to cell phones. Nobody was injured.
Witnesses also tell CP24 the robbers pulled out hundreds of dollars from the cash register before going to rob the dentist, who was in the midst of doing work on a patient.
The dentist told CP24 he was shaken up and police at the scene say they were surprised the robbers picked the dental office when a bank was right across the street.
Police are reviewing surveillance footage from the dental office and are expected to release descriptions of the suspects after going over the tapes.
Be careful when going to the dentist in the t-dot! Thieves are trying to rob you as well as the dentist! Pay with a cheque, don't carry cash on you! Beware.

A target for robbers more than a target for thieves.

Sad state of affairs... with the economy the way it is, and layoffs frequently being announced, I have a feeling there will be many more of these robberies. :(
Drug stores, ttc booths, banks, beer/liquor stores, pharmacies, cigarette stores are all big targets... and now dentists and doctors.
Now more than ever, people need to be more aware of what is going on around them.
Hopefully no one was hurt in this incident, and the police catch these scumbags quickly! (And the justice system does their job and makes THEM pay.)
Let's not over-used the term economy here ;) I highly doubt these individuals were just laid off nor were they had trouble looking for jobs to begin with.
Of course, we'll find out the age of the robbers when they're captured.

Church
Churches have already been hit. Back in the mid 1990's my church in London had to install a $1000+ monitored alarm system, and stop storing cash at the church, and install deadbolts on all offices, and bars on the windows.
We were broken into twice over a month, had 3 laptops, and over $1000 cash stolen.

An armed robbery at a dental office has left some patients shaken up in Scarborough.
At about 8 p.m., three masked men armed with guns entered Kennedy Dental Office at 1910 Kennedy Rd., north of Ellesmere Rd., said Toronto police.
The trio made off with a small amount of cash after robbing the business register, as well as the patients and staff of their wallets, police added.
The suspects are described as black men. One was taller than the other two. All were wearing dark clothing and puffy jackets. All three covered their faces with bandanas, at least one being red.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the hold up squad at 416-808-7350. Crime Stoppers accepts anonymous tips at 416-222-TIPS (8477), at www.222tips.com or by texting TOR and a message to CRIMES (274637).

With more banks moving to a "central cash" system, i think thieves will target them less
honestly, the places with the most "cash" = grocery store :)

And cameras, witnesses galore! Not to mention endless places to hide for people to call for help. Everybody and their gramma has a cell phone these days. You'd have to be stupid to hit up a grocery store.
I guess you can cross that off of your list for next crime spree.

+1
The only way you could pull off a grocery store heist is by having the equivalent amount of thieves to customer ratio to keep equal numbers. If you have 3 thieves walk in, they can be over turned quite easily as they are severely out numbered and if the customers start to fight back, the thieves don't stand a chance.
Stores that have big square footage like a grocery store or Walmart, etc won't ever get robbed unless it is late at night when there are a lot less ppl in the store. Even then, there is no guarantees.
It will always be your small stores that get robbed, so it doesn't surprise me that dentist's and doctor's offices are being targeted now due to how small their square footage is and the handful of customers they usually have.
