I am going to be getting a new car and wanted to trade in my car, because I don't want to sell privatly because the hazzle of dealing with the people after if they don't like it.

What I want to know is if there are any dealerships in Toronto specifically Mazda or Toyota that instead of trading in your car for a fixed cheap price will sell the car for you at the best price and keep lets say a 20% cut and the rest would go to your new car of choice. By having the middle man it would save me the hassle of dealing with people.

You are talking about consignment, this type of sale usually only happens with high end or exotics.

What is wrong?

You don't like goofs wasting your time looking at your $10K car and expect you to take $5K for it because they wave a wad of bills in your face?

A dealer might do the selling for you if it is a sought after car. What is the car?

That is true.

I've seen this happen before, even on vehicles that aren't really sought after. However I know in some of the cases the dealer/owner of car were friends.

You could "sell it to a dealer". Typically, the dealer would do an appraisal on your vehicle and if they decide its not one they want to keep on their lot, they'll make some phone calls to wholesellers to get the best number they can on it then they'll offer it to you and keep say 20% of whatever they can get for it. If they do decide to keep it, they'll give you an offer of what they'd be willing to pay for it, and if its accepted, they'll cut you a check.

Once in a while, I do get people who bring cars in and would like to get rid of it quickly rather then go through the hassle of selling it privately. If you are looking at this option, you might want to consider taking it to different dealership brand as they will wholesale it off quickly and you'll get your check right away. We get a lot of Honda Trade ins and we don't keep them.
