Might be a silly question, but I just got a Ridgid Hammer Drill, as I was trying it out, when i let go of the trigger the chuck does stop spinning pretty fast but it make this crunch or grind noise. Just hoping that it's the way it runs, and nothing is wrong with it...any help would be great. Thanks.

If you just got it, isn't it under warranty? I thought Rigid had a lifetime guarantee as long as you registered the tool.

yes..and if it's within 90 days, they'll exchange it, no questions asked.

Don't have the Hammer Drill, but a regular 18v Ridgid cordless. Mine has made the same noise for the last 4 years and is running fine.

I have a Mastercraft hammer drill and vs. my normal Ryobi drill, it does make a subtle "grinding" sound, which isn't audible at high speed, only when slowing down to a stop. Works fine.
