Wii Rock Band Guitar

Hello,

New to the gaming world and have a Nintendo Wii with the first Rock Band. The wireless guitar doesn't sync with the associated USB receiver and I am past the warranty date. I am wondering if the Rock Band 2 guitar will work with the first rock band edition?
