Hello, My current laptop's graphic card just died (After a year).. so Its either I buy another graphic card, or buy a new laptop overall.. The cost of the card is about $300 CND.. Here are the current specs of my laptop
C90s
E2180
2Gb DDR2
160gb 7200RPM
Dead 8600GT
Bluetooth, HDMI, Esata
etc..
So would it be better to fix this laptop or buy this laptop from newegg.com
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834220488
(I know its USA) .. So its either use 300 to fix my laptop or buy a new one for about 1300 CND.
Do not count Brokerage or taxes.
Thanks for the input : )

Canada Computers show 8600GT graphics cards for $69, so I assume this thread is just to help you justify buying a new computer?
(Been there, done that. ;) )

Nice laptop... says its easy to upgrade. If you have the money buy a new one. Personally I get attached to my toys I might do an upgrade.

Canada Computers sell MXM 2 cards?
I would buy like 10 if it was 69 dollars!
(We are talking about Laptops, not Desktops)
I might go with the upgrade.. Probably cost me about 300-400 dollars for 9600gt.
Thanks :cheesygri

$400 plus the money you can sell that laptop for would probably get you a newer, better laptop. I'm not 100% sure on the how the graphics cards are on some of the cheaper laptops though. There have been great deals with staples clearance, but if that 9600gt is important for you, then go for it.

I swear graphic cards are built into the motherboard, essentially on-board graphics, they are not replacable. If you wanted to fix it you would have to replace the motherboard. anyone feel free to correct me if im wrong.

I think notebook gfx are onboard, not separate cards. Expensive to fix.
That's why I use the aircan to clear up the dust on the back to help keep clean, keep airflow going.
