Alright, I want to get some shelves in my laundry room. I live in a highrise condo. The laundry room is on an outside wall. It's 1/2" drywall with concrete right behind it.

I *really* don't want to drill in the concrete. Anyone have any ideas as to what sort of shelves I could use to pull that off, or at least minimize it?

How much weight are you putting onto the shelf?

If it's a decorative shelf, drywall anchors/buttefly type clips should work.

You could also glue it to the wall using something like mighty putty.

If this is going into your laundry, then I'm guessing you want to store your laundry supplies on top of it. If so, then you have no choice but to use Tapcons by drilling into the concrete first then screwing brackets with Tapcons.

Do not use any type of adhesive, especially on drywall. The shelf is just going to crash to the floor and taking the paper on the drywall with it.

Tapcons or concrete anchors should work, assuming your complex allows you to drill into walls.

are you going to put the shelves on top of your washer and dryer?

If not may I suggest standing shelves... I've seen configurable shelves like the ones you can put in closets but not exactly sure if that would work since you don't want to drill into concrete.

Thanks everyone for the comments.

I may have to consider standing shelves.

Why I wanted wall-mounted was because usually you can configure the width of the shelves. I guess I should try to search for my shelves that fit nicely first, then as a last resort, get to drilling.

Ya, that's why I prefixed it with decorative shelves.

What's wrong with finding the studs and putting screws directly into them? Nice long screws will hold what you need. No anchors needed.

Apparently there are no studs.
