I'm a pretty big Lost fan, and it's not hard to understand why. Mysterious islands where funky things happen, time travel, undercover groups conducting testing, the history of the island with the Hanso family discovering the log of the Black Rock.. love it all. Anyways, do you guys have any thoughts on season 5?

I really liked 503... we got to see a lot of time travel! We saw "Jughead," learned that the US Military was on the island at some point (though seemingly unaware of the island's properties), saw Richard looking the same, saw that "the Others" have been there longer than anyone, and my favourite, Widmore as a young boy on the island.

Found it funny that the 50s chick couldn't accept Myles as being in the army because he was a "Chinese guy." Guess because there weren't that many Americans of different ethnic backgrounds at that point in time!

According to Faraday, "nothing can change" when time traveling, so how was Locke able to be shot? How was Faraday able to suggest burying the H-bomb? And how was Widmore able to kill his colleague? Wouldn't these events possibly change the future?

I like how they are using time travel in their plot. The consciousness thought traveling back in time is pretty neat as well.

Daniel provided us with an explanation that time travel is like a string, you can go back and forth but not start another string. He also clearly stated that you can not change anything, this was backed up by Pierre Chang. These explanations eliminates the paradox's of people running into each other, changing the story line or changing the future we have seen A very important conversation between John Locke and Richard Alpert is being overlooked. When Locke asks Richard where he went, Richard responds that he did not go anywhere, but that Locke did. So it is only the Losties that are moving through time. The Others are not moving during the flashes. The Losties run into a new group of mercenaries and a tribe of unknowns using flaming arrows (a nod to the 4 toe statue?).If the Others were moving also, they would of moved with Locke at the beginning of the episode. This distinction makes it a more succinct use of time travel.

I'm having a hard time getting into it this season, sort of like I did in season 2. I really liked last season though, it was my favorite since season 1.

I guess last season was more about why there off the island and what was go on the island. I guess the mystery is more suspenseful than having the island time travel everywhere.

Still good tv though.. maybe its because its goes off season for so long that its hard to get back into it. I'm having a hard time getting into 24 this season too, and it used to be my favorite tv show.

This is a key point for sure. What still puzzles me is in the group of Others, there's 1 tail-survivor (Cindy), and the group of kids from 815, who also "didn't disappear" with Locke and the 815 survivors. Does this mean the island somehow "took them in" and had them officially become Others?

Yup, I like how they're the only ones moving through time.

I too think that the huge amounts of time between seasons hurts Lost, as well as the short season (16 episodes, come on!).

Faraday's mom!!?!? I suppose that makes sense, the way he said "you remind me of someone..." I wonder if we would be able to recognize our parents in their 20s if we time traveled... Is it possible to be around your parent and not recognize them?

So, any theories on dead Locke? Will he somehow be awakened when back on the island? That is the implication, isn't it?

Loving Season 5 so far.

If people are complaining about answers, they should watch Jughead. Answers will be revealed in the next two seasons.

But i guarantee LOST will end with many unanswered questions. And many unhappy people.

Liking this season much better than the last.

The Oceanic 6 characters are lame (well except for Hurley and Sayid), and it sucked that they focused so much on them in S4. Now that they're going back to exploring the history and mythology of the island, it feels like they're going back to the roots of the show.

lol whut? you need a history textbook my friend :)...america does not have a beautifully coloured past (see what i did there lol).

I'm loving it too, reminds me a lot of the first and third season. and I think Faraday knows much more than he lets on, not just about the science of the island but it's secrets and he's got his own to boot.

So far so good. I'm a sci-fi fan so anything time travelling related works for me. I tried to watch the first or second season but couldn't because it was so slow and the characters were uninteresting. Picked up around end of season three and I've been watching each week since.

Yeah I know, that was my point! I just said that cuz multiculturalism and all that is so "in your face" these days, in contrast to how things were back in the day... much has changed in 60 years.

It seems that every tidbit about Faraday suggests that he knows a lot more than lets on. Interesting that Faraday once worked on the island, for the Dharma initiative.

Also, time travel in Lost generally seems to involve the travelling of the consciousness, but is this the case for them on the island? It seems that they actually are (physically) travelling, rather than just their mind.

I thought he time traveled and worked for them in that scene.

But people off the island travel only in their head, or so we're led to believe.

pretty sure locke is still 'alive' .. or why would protecting his body be such a big deal?

If you didn't get a chance to watch the show, you can catch it online at

once it uploads. Normally have to watch 30 sec ads, but its worth it for better quality, and less hassle!

I liked Ben's line to Jack and Kate tonight :P

Sawyer is being kinda wussy lately though ... get a backbone man!

Anyone heard a good theory re: the nose bleeds? I thought Faraday was having those before he made Desmond his 'constant'

Doesn't Faraday ask Miles if he's been to the island before when he sees his nose bleeding. That supports the theory that Miles is Dr Marvin Candle's son. I'm not sure why Juliet is starting to suffer too. Nice to see you-know-who back at the end of the episode.

I think Lost has become cliche and predictable. It might be that JJ has to wrap it up and in his haste its become like this. He probably wanted it to drag forever but the mystery might have been too much and now its too much predictable writing.

Plus all this time travel just seems like he ripped if off alot of good Startrek scripts now that he's involved in that franchise.

The ending should be worth seeing but everything in between seems like its happened somewhere in some other show some time. Now its just riding the fan waves.

Simply don't click on the thread if you haven't seen the latest episode yet.

We should post on the official Lost thread instead btw :

As far as I know, JJ's involvement is very minimal up to this point.

Might explain why the "mystery" is replaced with "suspense" in this and the prior season.
