I picked this up yesterday

Acer Aspire 4530
14.1" display
AMD Athlon 64x2 1.9 gig
160g hdd
2gb ddr2 ram
and no web cam
windows premium
$450

I was at future shop yesterday as well looking at a emachine celeron 1.6gig with 1 gb of ram for $450. the salesman there said I would have to spend at least $550 to get a dual core machine with 2 gb of ram which was true every where I went other then walmart. Walmart had the next model up that was a dual core 1.6g and a 120 gig hdd but 3gb of ram and windows vista basic for $470 so I went with the cheaper. The only problem was that I got the last one in the store and it was a French install of vista which was not indicated on the shelve or box, I have called acer and they are sending me the English cd for free. I live in BC why do they have French laptops on the shelve?
Was this a good deal? Or should I return it with in the first 14 days due to the french os and get something better?

I picked this up and Vista is pretty zippy.

Playing Civ 4 and UT2004 with no difficulties.

Good laptop for the money.

I got sick of chasing the Staples rainbow of good laptop deals. They've never had any of the hot deals in stock in Wpg.
