Hello

I have hired a cleaning lady paying her around 70 dollars what are the general duties she will do when she cleans the house . My house is around 1600 square feet with three bedrooms and 2 and half bath .

Thx

good for you??
are you trying to find out if this is a good deal?

"general duties"??? shouldn't you have already discussed this with the contract/agreement?

Walk her through the house. Be specific with what cleaning products you want her to use. For example if your bathtub is acrylic then don't use Ajax or Comet as it will scratch.

Here's a few suggestions:

vacuum all floors and damp mop tiles and hardwood
clean all bathrooms
dust
I like to have her change the bed sheets and put in the washer if there's time
clean kitchen counters and sink, wipe down cabinets
tidy up the fridge, clean the shelves inside

No I am not trying to find out if this is a good deal just want to know what is she expected to do

Its my first time so really don't know what else I can ask her to do so anyone who has a cleaning lady for $70 what does she do and how much time does she spend in the house

$70 is a decent price I guess. My mom has a 2800 sq ft and only pays $55 but it all depends. My mom gets the cleaning lady for 3 hrs and within that time, the cleaning lady has to:
- mop floors
- vacuum
- clean toilets/washrooms/counters/showers/tubs
- every other time she comes over, she is either expected to vacuum the basement or clean baseboards or something else.

My house is also 1600 sq ft and I might consider hiring one to come over once a month to deep clean the floors, carpet, and bathrooms; just in case I am not good enough to do so.

Average rate in Toronto is ~15.00 an hour, so your mom is right on target.

70.00 you better get a full day of cleaning (6 - 8 hours worth).

For a 1600 sq feet place, your cleaning lady should easily vacuum, clean the bathrooms, do your laundry, dust, and mop the floors in an 8 hour day :)

We are $18/hour I believe and it takes her 5 hours to do a good cleaning. Just under 2000 sq feet.
