I'm thinking of purchasing one. It garnered a lot of bad reviews on the amazon site: http://www.amazon.com/Power-Trainer-Pro-Pull-Bar/dp/B001AT3O8A

My house is 10 years old. And the doorway I'll be putting it on has a 30" opening.

Those of you that have this product, how has it been? Do you hear cracking? Is your doorway/frame now damaged?

Thanks.

been using it for 5 months now,
no door damage what so ever except for the sides where there is no foam... just left a black resedue form the bar.

door is still holding up good with no problems

I'd get the ' DOOR GYM ' instead ( " Fits easily in 32-inch doorways " ) ........

...not only is it cheaper ( $47 vs $32 ) than the one in the Amazon link you provided ( but perhaps more importantly ) it got a lot more reviews overall ( 165 vs 10 ) & many more great ( 5 out of 5 ) reviews ( 113 of them );)

I like the power trainer pro

I got mine for $50.XX...definately worth it

Works well on my really old wooden door frame (but I am a lightweight, 140lbs and 5 foot 6ish)

does this bar hang on it's own or do you have to drill into the frame? I measured my doorway opening to be 31.5 inches. will this fit?

Hangs on its own provided your door frames are big enough to support the pull up bar

I believe you should be okay...

Otherwise, they provide a set of J hoooks you can drill above the door to secure the bar

thanks. I ended up going with the Iron Gym. Got it at Bed Bath and Beyond for $30. They send you a 20% off coupon too if you sign up for their email list which you can apply to prior purchases (or so the salesperson said).

i bought this last night and it's a waste of time.
bedroom door frames in condos are not as "thick" as standard doors so the bar will barely stay up on its own.

The J hooks are also useless because the bar isn't able to sit flat against the wall on top of the door frame.

I live in an apartment too!! How thick does the wall need to be? My door frame is just under 3 1/2 inch, and the wall is about 3 inches thick, is that enough?

i dunno
i just know it works at the mall / store's back door but not any of the doors in my condo.

now i'm stuck with it cuz the stupid store SHOWCASE is final sale.
