I used to download full albums at a time but I recently decided that I would rather support the music I listen to. It does mean that there's a lot of music I don't hear as a result because I don't have the money to buy their CDs, which is unfortunate. I like the ease of use of iTunes, but I think the best value for your money are subscription-based music downloading services.
However I always hear horror stories, such as a former co-worker who loses the rights to the songs as soon as the subscription is cancelled.
Here's what I'm looking for:
- reasonable monthly price
- ideally DRM-free, but at the very least, I should be able to keep the music if I decide to cancel the subscription
- wide selection of music, including a good selection of Canadian artists
I like puretracks.com for selection, but as far as I know it's not subscription-based. If you have any suggestions I'd love to hear them. Thank-you! :)
Edit: just wanted to add to my "looking for" list:
- ideally no cap on monthly downloads
