I purchased a samsung soul from him. I negotiated him down to a cheaper price than the other sellers, so I decided to go with him. BAD decision. He said it wasn't unlocked, so I had to unlock it. Which was perfectly fine, and I didn't mind doing that. So I check the phone, everything works except can't get signal when I put in my simcard. I've never had a locked phone before, but it seemed like that would be what a locked phone would do logically, so I bought it.

Brought it home, and pay for an unlock code. When i try putting it in, nothing happens. So i contact the unlocking people, and basically what we end up with is, that the phone is already unlocked, and they don't really know why it's not working. He said perhaps because it's blacklisted? But that wouldn't really make sense because this isn't the UK and I'm pretty sure being blacklisted in Europe has nothing to do with anything in Canada.

So I contact the seller, and he says if the phone is broken, that he'll refund it. I say ok. So we set up a time/place and I go. He's nowhere to be found. I wait an hour. Calling and texting the entire time. He never shows up, never responds. And until today, he's still not responding. He scammed me $170. The way he dressed seemed little bit sketchy, but I decided to not be prejudiced just because of his clothing, and trust him. I definitely should not have. He had another positive feedback, but that was just as a buyer, so I guess I really shouldn't have trusted him. All I know is from now on, I'm going by my instincts... this was a bad experience.. and now I'm out 170.. frig..

Why did you leave a positive feedback?

Then a WEEK later leave a negative?

Unless you're a star negotiator reading it screams "why did he accept" :razz. You're didn't negotiate jack. You lowballed, and he accepted. That's it.

Some people here in RFD leave a positive feedback before actually going through a deal, I seen this habit plenty of times, as soon as the seller says he has shipped the product the buyer gives him a positive feedback, when the product doesn't show up and the seller is nowhere to be found, then they leave a negative feedback

*EDIT* Here's the reason why the OP left a positive feedback for his scammer "good communication" So if a scammer PM's with me nicely I'm going to go and give him a positive feedback? LOL

whoa this actually got replied to
I completely forgot to check this post after I put it up.
Alright let me explain the reasoning behindthe feedback situation.
Although I think I did say so in my original post.. Hmm can't remember right now as I'm typing this.

Ok. So I purchased the phone, and the transaction went smoothly. At that time, he told me that the phone as not unlocked, and that I would need to unlock it myself. I knew about unlocking, and how to do it, but hadn't actually ever done it, so I assumed he was telling the truth. What he said made sense at the time. All the aspects of the phone were working, and the only thing not working was the phone wouldn't get pick up a signal. So I said alright and we went on our seperate ways.

I guess here was my mistake. I came home, and since the transaction was good an everything seemed to be fine, I left positive feedback. I didn't actually have time to get the thing unlocked until a few days later, and it took a couple of days more for the code to be sent to me.

When I tried the code, it didn't work. I tried the few different ways of doing it, and it still didn't work. So finally I contacted the unlocking site, and tried a few more things with their customer service. Nothing worked. The cs guy said the alerts I was getting when I put in the code meant that the phone was already unlocked.

So I contacted the seller. I mean although the phone wasn't working, if he gives me a full refund, I have no reason to give him a negative feedback right? So up until this point, I was still fine with him. He talked to me like he would give me a refund, so we chose a time and place to meet up or the refund.

I went, waited, he never shows up, doesn't pick up his phone or reply to his texts and just disappears from that day on.

So that's when I followed up with a negative feedback to show that he is a scammer. Even up until the day when we decided to do the refund, he seemed like a good enough guy and communication was prompt.

So that is the long explanation of why it took me a week to give him that negative feedback.

Also, mr. Kornflakes, thanks for trying to make me sound like a complete dumbass, but fyi me writing "good communications" is just me writing a generic sentence for a positive feedback. Like how I write "good overall transaction, good communications, item as described" for all my eBay transactions. It has nothing to do with me giving him a positive feedback merely based on communications.

U give them a price that u are ok with, and the seller either accepts or doesn't. Now what I did was even more because I even gave a reason as to why it should be cheaper. Lowballing is part of any negotiation. U give ur terms, seller gives his and u go back and forth until u reach a price that u both agree on. Or if u can't come to a conclusion u don't sell/buy.
I didn't even lowball him by that much either and had reason to. It wasn't even unlocked. Or so he said.

Maybe you tried this already. Once i dealt with a guy that gave me a phone that didn't pick up signal. i just reset the phone and it worked perfect :)
