Have unbelieveable overstock of Vehicles sitting in the US. Expect prices to really drop in the late spring and summer this year, as well as special purchasing incentives and deals. I would wait.

I think that, given the state of the auto industry and the economy, that prices should continue to fall. Terrible for them, but good for us, I suppose. http://**************/img/1856/y08m1110mhmd/2.gif

I went to Honda dealer last weekend, there are about 5 people looking at new car, 3 of them were me and my friends.
Went to the used car section, the 2 salespersons, 1 manager and 1 car prep were tossing kiddie basketball to each other... that's how bad it was...
no one is buying. I personally would wait until spring (I need 2nd car); or until they offer 0% financing with more serious cash incentives :)

PLUS - the budget comes out tommorow - who knows... maybe they will temporarily get rid of PST or GST on new cars to help the economy.

We ultimately lose out as well since the resale value of the car will decrease accordingly. I see increases in the cost of parts and technician labor rate at the dealerships.
I would feel jyped paying increasing insurance rates when my car isn't even worth that much...

My wife and I went to a Honda dealership last week looking at both the Accord and CR-V.
We were the only ones in the showroom, and there were about 5 salespeople sitting around doing nothing. Not one person approached us. I even made a point of saying 'Hi' to one, and nothing.
Sometimes I wonder if some of these dealerships are really hurting as bad as they say....or maybe they just thought we were tire kickers, nothing more.

We had that same $888 discount for one day only last Saturday, Jan 24th, in Winnipeg. I bought a 2008 Element LX (low end model) and got all the discounts!

Honda is shutting down almost all their production for Feb and March due to massive overstock issues.
I know, as I work for a supplier and the bulletin was sent out last week.

those rebates are a joke. The same rebates a year ago were much much higher.

This cash incentive deal looks like a sales tactic to me unless I know the final price for the car.
This summer I was looking for an Accord. There were a few dealerships with $1500 or even $2000 cash back but the final price across all dealerships was always the same.
I went to a dealdership at dundas and Hwy 10 and they had a $1000 or $1500cash back deal on new accords. I went to another dealership at glenrin and dundas and they DID NOT have any such deals, but the final price on road on both dealderships was the same.

considering the state of the economy, prices of cars should be far lower than they are...
