I've been visiting the 2 staples in the Markham area every week and they never have any good deals out.. asking the employees if there's anything out back is also a waste of time.. They even emptied their whole clearance board yesterday and told me they sold everything .. wow..

Even if it lasts 1 year, you could hawk it for parts for $200+ next year, and put that towards another $400 laptop.

Or, better yet, buy it with a credit card that doubles the warranty and, if it dies, put a claim in to get $400 towards a new laptop next year.

Generally if you goto high traffic staples like the ones in the GTA, Markham, RichmondHill, you won't find many good deals because people actually buy laptops before they go on clearance or they get cleared out as soon as they go on clearance, leaving 0 chance for the ordinary person to get in on crazy deals. You'd have to be really lucky to get in.

FYI the others wondering about reliability...Staples extended warranty for 3 years total including battery replacements was $99 (which I bought). Also Acer sells 3 year extended warranties from their site for $99 if you register within 30 days of purchase.

RE: Acer 3 yr warranty - Does it apply for all ACER laptops, regardless of how you bought it? (i.e. refurb, open box, customer return, etc)

There is really no way of knowing unless the product was registered then returned, or otherwise stated on your receipt.
