Who do you think will win?
I have a strange feeling that Arizona has got this.

Go Steelers :D Hopefully Ward will be able to play. It'll be fun to watch Fitz & Boldin take on the Steelers defense.

That is true.
Let's see if Warner can inspire/motivate his players and calm them down to own the Steelers....
It has been almost a decade since Warner has been to the big show, but, he was there twice and MVP once...we'll see how that also plays into it
Just hope Boldin does'nt have another temper tantrum
Sill think the Cards will pull off another upset...
I think the general consensus (well, so far) is that the Steelers are the favorites, but many are still rooting for the Cards.

But at the same time, I wouldn't have it any other way. I'd rather have the 2 squads rested and ready to play their best than 2 beaten down squads going at each other and watching a terrible game

Parity is what makes the NFL heads and shoulders above the other 3 major leagues in North America. Who cares about the Bosox and Yankees, Red Wings and Mighty Ducks, Lakers and Celtics ?
Who would have thunk the Cards would make the Super Bowl this year ? after years of losing and with a few good moves in the coaching and players department, all is well in the desert.
Not to forget the Dolphins going from a 1-15 season to making the playoff as well as the Falcons after the Michael Vick debacle. Nobody will remember the Lions 0-16 season if they can get back to respectability next season.

Well, if the Cards win and take the super Bowl, you could technically say that if the Eagles happened to win that week, they would have been the champs ;)
But, I know the Steelers are massive faves to win...but I swaer...the Cards have it going on...they are what the NY Giants were last season...huge underdogs, but against all odds, I think they will also come out on top

Don't even get me started on that. the freakin Giants did the exact same thing last year, as the cards did this year, but to the Packers (which is my default team when the Eagles aren't in the playoffs).

Steelers LB's are susceptible to quick seam passes.
Arizona comes out in the first quarter with no huddle, 2 min offense, puts up 1-2 touchdowns fast the games over already. I don't like the Steelers putting weight on big ben to come from behind.

Umm, I don't know what to think of it...
Emotions get high, and people may do stupid things....and sure he did something stupid by punching him, but, there have been worse unsportsmanlike acts that did not result in a player getting kicked out (not in this game)
But at the same time, totally uncalled for and totally disrespectful...the guy was down and he took a cheap shot...but it wans't to the head or anything
Actualy...maybe he should have...

Another horribly officiated superbowl with the Steelers playing.
What a surprise.
Yeah, it's a shame really that they get all the close/pick'em calls.

he definitely should've been thrown out, the punch and after that he shoved him down some more.
If one of those acts is worth 15 yards then the second should've been an ejection. The punch alone should've had him thrown out.
I also thought the last play was incomplete.
I wanted the cards to win but atleast they beat the spread so I'm sorta happy.
Ah well, that penalty in some strange way helped Pitt (no penalty = no safety = no early Fitz TD = no Holmes amazing TD)...lol

What are your opinions on the fumble??
I still am bewildered at the fact that it was not reviewed?!?!?
I swear, that was not a fumble...his hand was in a forward motion as if he was throwing it...I've seen sooooo many games in the NFL where that was considered a forward pass...
I wanted to see Fitzgerald vs. 7 Steelers  Then a lateral to Boldin FTW, lol...too bad too bad

its a hard call to make but nonetheless they never reviewed it, they really didnt even seem interested. You think the ref would atleast take another look, but they seemed like they just wanted the game to be over and didnt care

That was an unlikely drive already so they just ran out of time. I think they probably figured the call would've gone against them anyway. I also thought that was a forward pass since it didn't really come out till it was past his torso due to momentum.
Oh well, not in the Cards ;)
Those Super Bowl QBs were the ones that I enjoy following in the NFL.

Holmes ripped the cards defense apart. The steelers ran the exact same play before his game winning td, and they also had atleast two guys surronding him, but he missed the catch.

Very exciting game with a great (depending on your perspective) finish. The fumble call wouldn't have made a difference anyways, I think they had about 6 seconds left on the clock at that point. Yeah I suppose they'd have a chance, but it'd be an incredibly slim chance.
Reffing was one sided, but the cards still got beat on the Holmes catch. You can't blame anyone for that.

Yes, they ran the same throwing play twice, but to the opposite side. Credit to Holmes though, he did make a nice catch. Roethlisberger played great too, keeping plays alive and avoiding sacks.
#69 on the Cardinals: 3 holding penalties.. that was tough lol.

some crazy plays made for exciting football. I actually enjoyed a steelers game go figure :)
the fumble was a fumble that's why they didn't make a stink about it
and yea that should have been an ejection...even tho Madden is captain obvious he called it properly
the league has had some real officiating problems this season, hopefully they catch their mistakes during their review committees in the offseason
halftime show was great...that's one band you wish had 22 hours nevermind 22 minutes hehe

I really couldn't care less about who won this game, but I didn't think the officiating was that bad.
Are you guys actually cards fans or just one time cards fans? I can see how you can see it's not a fumble if you were, but then I could see how it was. it was a close call imo.
the main play that turned this game around was a the end of the half. That 100 yard interception return gave steelers 7, and took away possibly 7 or 3 from the cards. that's a 10-14 point turnaround.

Yeah, I thought the Steelers would win, and they did. You could see the experience come into play. When the Cards started getting the momentum, the Steelers would just take it right back. Big Ben played with a lot of poise and made the big plays when I thought he was going to get sacked. He made some unbelieveable passes, and that last pass to Holmes was just so sick.
The Cards were a bit unraveled, and took some really dumb penalties. They played well enough to win, and their defense was outstanding. If they had played more disciplined, they probably could have won it. As well, the refs were horrible which didn't help the Cards.

The officiating was horrrible and it favored the Steelers, just like the Superbowl Pittsburgh win over Seattle a few years ago.
But in the end, the Cards lost because they could not stop the Steelers from going 75 yards in the last 2 minutes to score the winning touchdown. The Cards were able to stop the Steelers several times in the Red Zone earlier in the game but failed to do so in the most critical drive of the game. All they had to do was hold off the Steelers for a couple of minutes and they would have been the Super Bowl Champs.

I'll agree with that, but I didn't really see anything wrong with what Holmes did.
also, the refs did make some good holding calls (one that resulted in a safety for the Cards), and unnecessary roughness calls. the only calls that were close were Kurt's fumbles and from what i saw it was hard to say he was in forward motion. and really, if his defensive line can't keep 3 guys from getting to him, then they deserve to lose, and it wasn't necessarily a game changing play. Missed pass interference calls or pass completion/incompletion are the ones that are costly, and those didn't happen.

of course there was nothing wrong, it's just a celebration. but there have been so many penalties handed out during the season for these celebrations, i'd expect at least some consistency in the superbowl as well.

The only notably bad call I saw was the roughing the passer call in the third, but I'm no NFL expert.
BTW, can anyone explain to me why the Cards didn't stick with rushing when it was 1st & goal at the 2 yard line? People must be roasting the offensive coordinator for that call. I gotta agree with Dash and others that this is primarily where the game was lost.

The Cardinals had just called their last timeout. If they did a running play and not made it into the endzone the clock would have continued to run and they would have been forced to do a quick field goal rather than have a couple more tries at a touchdown.

Except most (if not all) the close calls went the Steelers way. If they called it properly, Harrison should've been thrown out.
But you can't fault the Steelers for that. They won the game with a little help. The final play is what gets me. That should've been worth a review instead of a "hurry up and down the ball so we can get out of here before we get lynched."

But those were extremely close calls. I don't know how you can fault Ben's run being called a TD. Or even the incomplete pass vs fumble. I find the losers always complain about the officiating. Even though tackling a linebacker would have won them the game but they couldn't do that...they had 100 yards to catch up to him and tackle him or push him out of bounds.
yes that last play should have been reviewed but the frontline couldn't keep 3 guys away from Warner. Make the plays so that there's no need to complain about officiating. Though I do think Harrison should have been thrown out.

you're right, the o-line should have kept warner free. but the least the refs could have done in the biggest game of the year, was to make sure the play gets reviewed. it wasn't reviewed and people will complain. if the call was still a fumble after the review, cards fans have no reason to complain anymore. but b/c of the fact that the play was not reviewed, they have a right to be upset. mind you, i wanted arizona to win, but im not a cards fan.
i also love the dilemma that some steelers fans must be in. they're happy that their team won the game, but if they placed any bets on them, they would have lost the bet.

The other issue that's also being discussed is the Holmes' Football Celebration and apparently no one I know saw it, I didn't.

That was definitely one of the bad calls. The Steelers did the exact same thing to Warner in the first half and didn't get a penalty for it. The calls were inconsistent and just bad overall.
As for the Cards not running it, who knows. Everyone I was with was like WTF why didn't they run that. Then why couldn't they just tackle the guy? Time had run out, all they had to do was make sure he didn't get to the endzone.

Yes, the reffing was bad, yes it was inconsistent, but the bad calls went both ways. Most of the calls against Arizona were deserved, especially the holding ones. The only call against Arizona that wasn't deserved was the roughing the passer in the 3rd quarter. As far as I'm concerned, that was a perfectly legal hit. Everything else was deserved.
There were two times that the Cards got a very generous spot of the ball which gave them the 1st down, instead of 3rd and short. Even my buddy who is a Cards fan noticed that. Those could be game changing plays because there's no guarantee Arizona would have converted on those downs.
As for the last play, it was a fumble and even Kurt Warner knew that. Immediately upon losing the ball, he put his head down and walked off the field. He didn't say a word to the refs. Now if you remember the other play that was initially called a fumble but was later reversed, Warner was immediately barking at the refs and ran to the sidelines to tell his coach to throw the flag. Sure, on the last play of the game the coach couldn't challenge it, but Warner didn't say a word to the refs, he simply walked off the field because he knew it was a fumble. His empty came forward, which is a fumble. He wasn't trying to tuck it, he was trying to throw it, but the ball only went forward after it was out of his hand. If it was an incomplete pass, there would be far more discussion about that play by the sportscasters and the entire Cardinals organization.
The reffing was bad, yes, but it's not like the refs gave the game to the Steelers. The Steelers earned that victory.

+1
Steelers did deserve the victory
But regardless of whether the last play was a fumble or not, it was a close call, and just IMO, I think it deserved to be reviewed by the booth (since coaches can't throw the red flag in the last 2 minutes of either half)
Considering how emotional the Cards were, I'm really surprised that they were so deflated after that play (not even bothering to put up a fight to have that play reviewed).
Ahhh, looks like the Steele Curtain prevailed...
And Big Ben was just too big that night, and would not go down!
