Not trying to talk down your thread but anyone considering this drive should know they will most likely need a firmware update does not exist at the moment, you should at the very least make sure that the firmware revision on this drive is not listed among the affected drives listed on this page before selling it.

I just flashed my drive last night, it's available and easy to do.

So yea it's safe to buy this drive, just flash it when you get it or the seller will probably do it.

I know about that as I have 3 x 1tb and 1 x 500gb of them and they have taken down that update as it was bricking the 500gb drives so who knows what they will tell us to do next I know I am not going to use the file I downloaded with the SD1A on it for anything...
